Tactical knew that strategy of using an attack at close range, Jake had done it enough times with Hypnotic to predict it. Those words "Wait for me to say when," are all to obvious. Jake knew what to do.

"Jump over it Tactical!!!"

Jake saw Elliot tremble a little bit, as did Charmeleon. That's exactly what Jake wanted though: That fear is the key to the battle, shake someone up enough and they will second guess themselves until they lose.

Tactical leaped right over the Flamethrower directed at him, and positioned itself straight down so that the Horn Attack could do maximum damage to Charmeleon. Elliot didn't react fast enough, and Tactical landed a direct hit to the head. Charmeleon was knocked into the ground, and it pulled itself back up to the ground.

"Alright Iggy! Use Smokescreen!!!" Elliot commanded.

Suddenly, thick black smoke filled the entire arena. No one --including the referee-- could see what was happening. Jake called out to Tactical to be on its feet so it had a chance to move away. All of the sudden, Charmeleon came out with a furious Scratch attack that shot Tactical all the way to the Fire Arena. Jake knew what was going on, as it was the strategy he just used on that Oddish. He had to get away from that fire and towards the water. Tactical didn't have any real type advantage at the fields, but he knew how to use that ice to his advantage.

"Get up Tactical!! Now use Poison Sting on Charmeleon, in the right direction!!"

The right direction? Elliot thought. OH CRAP!!! This time I know what to do though!!

"Charmeleon, avoid the needles and hit it with an Ember attack directly at him!!"

Charmeleon gracefully avoided the Poison Sting, and it shot its Ember into the flying needles. The collison exploded, and brought up a huge cloud of smoke. Jake was shocked, but Elliot was all too ready. When the smoke cleared, Charmeleon had Tactical forced forward with Charmeleon's Scratch attack, over and over again. Tactical couldn't take any more damage.

"HORN ATTACK!!!"

"Dodge it Iggy!!!"

Charmeleon ignored Elliot for some reason. It just stood in place, waiting for Tactical.

What an idiot. Jake thought. He thought he had it locked up in the bag. All of the sudden, Charmeleon used Flamethrower directly on Tactical, within a 2 foot radius. Jake was stunned, as he couldn't believe he didn't see it coming. Tactical fell over, and it couldn't get up.

"Charmeleon is the victor of Round 2! Next victory is the match! Return your Pokemon and send your next ones out!"

Jake swiftly sent out Aether, while Elliot sent out his Pikachu. Neither had any advantage from the field, and it seemed both would try to stick to the Grass field. Jake wanted to shake that up though.

"Sand Attack Aether!"

Jake used the Sand Attack to get Pikachu off of its balance, where Aether could easily move it towards the Rock arena. Electricity failed on the ground, and Jake wanted to use that knowledge to his advantage. Elliot clearly didn't seem to catch on. Pikachu was hit directly, and it tried to wipe the sand of its eyes. Before long, Jake ordered Aether to use Quick Attack upon Pikachu, which knocked it directly into the Rock arena. Jake knew he had the advantage there, and he decided he was going to use it.

Dang it, he's using the field again! Oh well, what he doesn't know is that I have a little trick up my sleeve...Elliot thought, although a tad maniacal.

"Quick Attack Toni!!"

Pikachu shot around the battlefield, and it didn't take long at all for Aether and Jake to lose sight of it. It was way too fast for Aether, as fast as it is already. Jake heard Elliot order another command, but he didn't know what. He saw a white light moving around, and he could tell where Pikachu was. Suddenly, the rocks were being smashed all over the arena at Aether. Pikachu was using Iron Tail of all attacks! Jake had no clue what to do!! Rocks repeadetly badgered Aether all over the place, until it was knocked to the ground. Aether mustered all of its strength to stand back up.

I can't keep up with that rat's speed, and its attacks are too fast. I guess I'll have to just pound it all out...Jake thought.

"Use Quick Attack Aether!"

Aether shot right towards Pikachu, but Elliot didn't command it to move for some reason. The attack landed directly, and Pikachu was launched into a rock, and smashed through it. Aether just sat there. Suddenly, little sparks were shocking Aether.

Perfect! Static is killing him! Now it has no speed, and this is locked up for me. Elliot thought happily.

**** this isn't good! I can't even move now. I don't know what to do!

"Thunderbolt Toni!!"

Jake ordered Aether to move, but it had no more energy left. The Thunderbolt used Aether as a conductor to the ground, and Aether collapsed. It tried to stand up, and it reached its feet. It swiftly fell back down.

"Round 3 goes to Elliot and Pikachu!! Elliot is the winner!!!"

Jake walked up to Aether, gave it a hug, and returned to its Pokeball. Pikachu hopped onto Elliot's shoulder, just like Aether does with Jake. Elliot extended his hand, and Jake shook it.

"That was a great match!" Elliot said.

"I agree. My first loss, but at least it was fun," Jake said with a little grudge. He couldn't believe he was beaten. He was out of the tournament, and he had no way to get both of his Pokemon to evolve.

Jake walked back to the Pokemon Center, and had his Pokemon healed swiftly. He returned to his room to think about the battle, and what to do in the future.

That kid is going down next time...

HIGHLIGHTS FROM ANT VS GAV BATTLE 1:

Ant kicked off the battle using Pikachu whereas Jolteon was Gav's choice. The Match-up was perfect and they got to work. They were evenly matched in speed and power, their attacks sending sharp electric sparks across the ground cutting up bits of stone and rock across the entire stadium. Ant's pikachu was abnormally strong and it all seemed to be down to the small necklace it had around its neck, with a little yellow orb attatched to it. Gav protested against it but the referee said there was nothing wrong with equipping a pokemon with a Light Ball. Everything seemed to be going according to plan for Ant, his pikachu seemed to have been underestimated but what he didnt expect was Jolteon to know agility. It's speed increased almost ten fold and eventually its quick tackling was far too much for pikachu. Ant only had one choice left so he called upon Pikachu to use it's "secret move". Fans have been speculating about Ant and Pikachu's 'secret move' for some time now and many suspected it to know Rain dance, however this was not the case as instead Pikachu began to spark intensely and shot across the arena at amazing speed, out-matching Jolteon with its massive volt tackle attack. Jolteon was smashed into a boulder and rendered unconcious, Pikachu fainted a few moments after that but not before being declared the winner.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM ANT VS GAV BATTLE 2:

Pidgeot wasnt the first choice that game to mind for most of the crowd when Ant sent out Charizard, but nonetheless gav chose him. Flaping their wings and ascending to the sky above the stadium both pokemon soared well above the arena before the fight had even kicked off. Charizard began launching fire attacks at it's foe but piedgeot was quick to avoid them, despite it's size. Pidgeot charged in beak first with a quick attack which struck charizard with some force. As charizard was recovering he was struck again with another quick attack which caused him to fall quite a distance. Before hitting the ground however charizard righted himself and flew back upwards, where pidgeot was coming down towards him with speed, before pidgeot could land another attack however charizard launched a flamethrower upwards striking his foe and burning it. Pidgeot fluttered around until it landed on the ground with singed feathers. Charizard was close behind however and smashed Pidgeot into the ground with a mega punch attack. Pidgeot was injured but not about to give up, using its strength it bashed Charizard into the air and shot up a powerful gust attack which blew charizard back some more, setting it up for Pidgeot's Aerial Ace attack, which seemed to be too much for it's fiery foe. Charizard landed injured on the ground and Pidgeot dove in and struck Charizard with another quick attack, finishing it off. Gav's pidgeot had won the match.

THIRD BATTLE:

"Let the third battle begin!" The referee called out. Gav seemed tense as he saw Ant's ivysaur appear from it's pokeball, he'd already decided he was going to use wartortle even if the type matchup was bad.

"Come out Wartortle!" He said. The fans gasped in shock, Could it be that gav had just set up his own loss by using a water pokemon against Ant's grass?

"Bad move, Show em Ivysaur!" Ant called out as he pointed at wartortle who was stood tensing its fists. Ivysaur unleashed a massive Razor leaf attack at it's foe who withdrew into its shell upon command. "Good work ivysaur! Keep wartortle using defensive moves, we can't lose if it doesnt attack. Try a tackle!" Ivysaur began to charge towards it's foe, stomping towards it as Wartortle remained motionless within its shell, the fans held their breath as they waited for the move to collide, their was almost a sudden silence for a second.

"Now, Skullbash!" Wartortle shot towards Ivysaur and smashed it head on, this was planned all along, driving its skull into Ivysaur it seemed that Ivysaur was seriously hurt and ended up being knocked flying. "Great job!" The fans went wild, they'd expected ivysaur to take this fight but Wartortle had already proven it was capable of winning this fight, fortunately for Gav the type match-up didnt seem to effect him much.

"Ivysaur, let's keep it at range so it can't do that again. Try razor leaf!" Ant had realised what to do. But this battle was far from over. Ivysaur climbed upright and wartortle stood ready to right again, As razor leaves came lashing towards wartortle, gav called out a command of his own

"Ice beam!" Gav shouted, the fans suddenly fell silent again as ice shot from wartortle towards ivysaur and smashing it in the face. The cold chill of ice beam was too much for ivysaur and it was knocked flying back into the wall, covered in shards of ice, ivysaur at first seemed frozen solid but was able to move after a few seconds.

"Finish it off with Hydro Pump!" Gav called out, and wartortle stood still for a moment, before lighting up in a veil of white light. As the light passed Blastoise was stood in Wartortles place. Ivysaur climbed out of the icy debris and growled at it's foe, Who shot a massive Hydro Cannon attack at it. Ivysaur quickly rolled out of the way and watched as the water attack shattered a boulder behind him. He was safe, but was panting, blastoise seemd to be recovering from firing the attack and was vulnerable. Suddenly, ivysaur began to glow in the same white light as his opponent, before long, this battle had changed from Wartortle vs Ivysaur, to Blastoise vs Vensaur.

"VE....NUS......" Vensaur angrily cried out at it's foe as it gathered energy, Blastoise was panting by now, that last Hydro cannon attack had taken everything he had and was unable to move. "SAAAAAAAAAAUUUR!!"

Venusaur's Solarbeam attack struck blastoise, lifting him off the ground and sending him flying through boulder after boulder. Blastoise was knocked unconcious. Although he had lost, gav found the fans chanting his name over and over. It seemed like the underdog had become the fan favorite!

Before long however, the entire stadium was covered in shadow. Darkness fell upon Mount Moon as something blocked out the sunlight...

The fans looked up and gasped as they saw the same pokemon that had filled the sky not so long ago, as it flew over the stadium it swooped down towards the stadium and shot out a massive screech. Filling the stadium, the pokemon hovered for a moment whilst screeching, Everyone managed to get a good look at the pokemon.

See the pokemon up close:
Spoiler:

Everyone covered their ears and closed their eyes, and as they did so everyone in the stadium had a horrible vision.

See the vision:

Spoiler:

The vision seemed to be of the same pokemon, yet darker and twisted. As this pokemon flew on passed the stadium, the darkness was lifted and the feeling of terror passed. Something just didnt seem right anymore.

"L..ladies and gentlemen. We have just witness the appearance of the legendary pokemon.. Lugia." The announcer spoke with disbelief, the fans began to mumble to one another as the thud-like wingbeating of lugia faded away.

Everyone fell still and silent for a moment... this was an unusual event.

After her slightly scary battle with Jess, Shelby found that she was shaking while she was sitting in the waiting room of the Pokémon Center. Crap…I can't believe it got to me that bad, she thought, rubbing her hands together. Moments later, Nurse Joy had come back with a tray containing my pokeballs on it. I thanked her and took them back, setting them on the hooks quietly.

The match had been close—that much Shelby knew. She already knew the three Pokémon she was going to use for the next match. She hoped that it would seem different from her normal choices, but she couldn't be too sure.

Suddenly she noticed a giant shadow had been cast over the fans. Shelby jogged outside of the Pokémon Center and her eyes went wide. What is that?! She thought, quickly grabbing her Pokedex. It came up with an Unknown Data screen, something that surprised Shelby. Then she thought she saw an even darker creature, almost an exact replica of the first. As soon as it had come, the creature was gone. Shelby heard the announcer say something about Lugia.

That's Lugia? Shelby wondered, watching as the large Pokémon flew away. Wow…if that was Lugia…then what was the other thing?

"How could we have lost?!" I hissed angrily as I let Victor out of his pokeball. He crossed his needles across his striped chest and flew near me as I headed into the Pokemon Center. "Even if you won against Shelby's Marshtop, Torterra and Venusaur - I mean, Landscape and Brak- aww, to heck with it!" I hissed. "The nicknames are going no where! I'll just call you by your regular names."

Beedrill didn't seem interested in the conversation at all.

"Are you listening to me Beedrill?" I asked. Beedrill wasn't even paying attention.

"Great," I said angrily. "You're not listening to me."

"Miss, please return your Pokemon," someone said.

"Gladly," I hissed, grabbing Beedrill's Pokeball. But suddenly, Beedrill struck out and smacked the Pokeball out of my hand. He spread his wings and flew out of the Pokemon Center.

"Beedrill!" I cried, running after him afte grabbing the his Pokeball. I followed him past the entrance to the tournament stalls and into the forest. When I stopped to catch my breath, I turned back to the tournament and noticed a bright shadow was cast over the dome. I didn't care what it was - I needed to get Beedrill back.

"Beedrill!" I shouted. The forest was quiet.

"Beedrill," I whispered.

"Torterra, come out," I said after a few seconds. After a flash of light, my large partner appeared. He looked at me confused - he seemed to day, "Why aren't you calling me Landscape?"

"I decided not to use the nicknames anymore," I told him. He nodded. "Beedrill ran - er, flew off."

Torterra blinked. "Tor, tor, terra," he roared into the forest.

"Come on, please Torterra, we have to find Beedrill." Torterra just nodded.

It was about an hour into the search and I was very tired.

"Tor?" Torterra asked me as I climbed up onto his back and sat down under the shade of the tree on his back.

"I'm fine," I sniffled as tears started to run down my cheeks. "Really, I am."

Beedrill was a friend of mine - I raised him from a little Weedle, now he has run away from me thinking he's greater than me. How could he feel this way? We were like family - no, we were family.

"Come on Torterra," I said, sniffing. "Let's go back to the Pokemon Center."

Torterra nodded and started back to the Pokemon Center.

---

Once I reached it, I returned Torterra to his Pokeball and headed off to my room. I didn't want people to see me like this.

Once I reached my room, I placed Beedrill's empty Pokeball in the drawer of my coffee table and took out Seviper's and Venusaur's Pokeballs. I tossed them into the air and in two bright flashes, Seviper and Venusaur sat in the room.

"Seviper, Venusaur, I'm not going to use nicknames anymore, alright?" I sniffed. Venusaur and Seviper looked at each other.

"Venu?" my large, grass Pokemon asked.

Seviper slithered up to my side and placed his head on my chest.

"Beedrill's gone," I said. Venusaur and Seviper looked at me shocked. "He didn't want to be with me anymore. He flew off in the forest. I tried finding him with Torterra but it was no use."

Mij covered his ears at the screeching of the giant pokemon. He recognised it from before the tournament, flying over pewter city. He closed his eyes and saw an image of a vicious darker looking pokemon, but it looked almost similar the the one above the stadium. Stumbling into the trainers lounge and falling to his knee's Mij yelped in pain as he hit his hand on the floor.

"What... was that..." Mij heard the wingbeats of the pokemon getting quieter as it must have been leaving. He climbed onto a chair and sat there panting... that wasnt a very great experience.

ooc: Only those of you who look close enough will see! ;)

News broadcast played around kanto + in the stadium to announce the findings of 2 new pokemon..

An old man appears on screen:
"No doubt you have seen the terrible creature that is lugia!!? Soon lugia will be completely full of darkness and we will have finally completed our goal!

With the help of professor oak, We will be testing our lugia project shortly, please do stay tuned in for updates!!"

Normal programming resumes:

A professor is pointing into a pool of water, but no pokemon can be seen.

"And so, the first new pokemon species migrated to kanto, we have named Gilly! It seems to be a water pokemon and we do not yet know if it evolves. The yellow and blue fish-like creature bares dolphin like features and is rather small. As small as a horsea!

The professor points to a swam of blue-shelled bug pokemon flying over some trees.
Secondly the bug pokemon that has migrated to kanto. Nobody knows where it has originally come from but there a mass numbers of these pokemon spreading throughout Kanto. It will be named appropriately when we have learned more about this pokemon, though we do know it evolves!
We are unsure if the pokemon migration has anything to do with the recent activity of dark trianers.

In any case, Capturing these pokemon may help many of our studies, if anyone happens to capture these pokemon please bring one by my lab in Cerulean city. Thanks!"

The professor who did not mention his name went off the air and the broadcasting of the tournament continued.
