Yeah but the anime isn't exactly a prime example of character development. If it is EVER addressed again, it'll probably fall into the kitchen sink-plot device that'll fill up the season right before the show is canned.

In some of the movies Ash is special... very special. Like Ash being part of a legend and being able to do cool stuff with his aura. That leads to one conclusion... Ash is the son of two of the legendary pokemon and was obviously adopted.

Yeah from what I heard that adult silver guy sounds like the best bet i mean they do act quite similar.
 
I say, that at the end of this gynormous series, Ash's dad will appear and battle Ash in order for Ash to become a Master. Or, he will never appear and we will all be forced to imagine the endless possibilities of this guy's parents.

Ash's dad left a while back before Ash was born. That's all I really know I guess. =P
 
Didn't read all the replies, due to lack of time right now, but..

I still say that Ash's father was a good-for-nothing, and left Ash and his mom alone in Pallet shortly after Ash was born.

The whole 'his father left to train Pokeymanz' thing is a lie. D<

I agree with that one, it seems realistic =D
Besides this...I would like Giovannt to be the father (dramatic XD ) but I doubt he is...Silver...meh, it would kinda fit, ut it would be boring. I would guess it'll be a new introduced character.

Well I guess that's a logical explanation. And it could also be that his mom could be hiding something that happened when Ash was a baby. Who knows? O:​
 
I believe that Ash has a dad, but he is a victim of the "not important, don't show" rule common in anime.

Anyway, maybe Ash's dad just died. . . but if we are discussing who we think is the father, then I would say it could be Prof. Oak or Silver.

But usually, Anime doesn't really provide logical answers for these kind of things. xD
 
I say the prime candidates are Giovanni and Professor Oak. Silver is way too far away from Kanto, and was introduced way too late in the series. As far as his knowing about Ash, of course he would! Ever since day 1, Ash has been running around with Legendaries, saving the world, and has been part of publicized tournaments. It's only natural he'd be some sort of celebrity.

And y'all should be a bit more clear which Silver you're talking about. For a moment, I thought you were talking about the GSC Silver.

His dad is probably in the Elite Four in a completely new region that comes after Sinnoh. Just guessing. I used to think it was that crazy scientist man who was talking about the Clefairy spaceship thingy b/c their hair looked similar, but he never called him "dad," so... He's probably a trainer like Ash is.
