Film Darth Jar Jar

now, the link comes from a time where force awakens hadn't come out yet so just take that in stride

I read this a couple of months ago and it blew my mind, but over the last couple of days it's been in my train of thought consistently and I just need to talk about it again. Read the theory & associated comments and please get back to me.

Yes! Yousa let the hate flow through you!

I'm not a major Star Wars fan, but I'd really like to see this happen. It has great potential to redeem Jar Jar as a character and it would be a great twist in the new trilogy.

I didn't read the article but I'm assuming it's the thing where Jar Jar is a super evil sith badass guy?

Really fun idea but I think with the new Star Wars movies they're making they're trying to get away from the prequels.

It's truly amazing what lengths people will go to when they care about the overall story/series/franchise, but really hate a specific element of it.

I'm a big Star Wars fan and even though I was suckered by Episode I when I first saw it, from the beginning Jar Jar was always kinda... dumb. Didn't fit in. If he could be removed from the story it would have been great to me and I think most people would say the same. But it can't happen since it's canonical. However, the next best thing to removing him is to come up with an elaborate explanation that doesn't contradict what's on screen (thereby preserving the integrity of the series and also not delving into the realm of fanfiction) whereby his actions take on a different meaning.

I mean, you are right in that sense, but the voice actor for Jar Jar (Ahmed Best) has talked about how there are many parts of the theory which were true, while not specifying which parts exactly. He also backed up that George Lucas did change a lot of Jar Jar's story in the sequels because the fan reaction was just so volatile. So you are right, but apparently, an outlandish internet theory is somewhat right for the first time as well.

Oh wow, I read this theory a while back and I remember everyone I showed to to thinking it was the dumbest thing they ever saw. If they would of actually carried it out in the films, it would of definitely been a twist, while not as iconic as Luke's paternity. I think I would of just liked to see the execution, if they could of actually made the character seem really menacing and formidable, I just can't picture it but I would love to read the script for that reveal scene..
