I have been pokemon-less (with the noble exception of Crystal {Which I'm putting on eBay; any takers?}) for a few months now. You see I loaned me DS to my ex-girlfriend, and it got stolen from her. I died a little inside. But now, well, not now, but soon, I can purchase another Pokemon game! (I already got another DS) Yay! The question, though, is which one? Diamond and Platinum are both $35 right now, and I just don't know which one to get. I like the reintroduction of move tutors, but not being able to get Murkrow, Misdreavus, or Glameow? Eww. So, PC, will you help me? I haven't actually played Platinum, so I'm not aware of the differences.

Please don't suggest getting Platinum because Dialga and Palkia can both be caught in it; I cannot stand that moist pink travesty.

Thanks for the help. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum; I tried, honest.

Platinum is the best, personally. You might as well get it.
I mean, it has a lot of well-needed improvements from Diamond/Pearl - namely the speed of surfing has been increased. In Diamond/Pearl, it seems deathly slow.

Plus, Platinum has a better story, and Giratina is just cool.
So, I'd advise you to get Platinum instead. :D

I have Pearl and Diamond but I just got them and haven't played them yet, so I can't give you a comparison; however, I just finished Platinum and I love the storyline and all the new features it has. While I can't tell you the benefits it has over playing Diamond, I do recommend it. As other people have said, it has all the newest features and apparently some needed improvements from Pearl / Diamond. Distortion World is one of my favorite parts of the game overall, too :)

well if you absolutely do NOT want platinum, i'd say get diamond. i just say this 'cause i much prefer dialga over palkia. :)

Distortion World? Woah; you lost me. Could someone tell me about some of these new features?

    Diamond vs Platinum...? Some comparison.

Distortion World is only included in Platinum's storyline. It is the world that Giratina originated from. You venture into it after shortly after receiving your 7th badge, but I'm not going to say why or it'd ruin the story! :cheeky:

If you want to see the new features, check out the "What's New?" section of the Pokemon Platinum website.

Sorry for the trouble, but do you think you could get me a link to the aforementioned website?

I'd love to, but the forums don't allow me to post links until I've made at least 15 posts :(

Just Google 'Pokemon Platinum' and it'll be the first site on the list, then the link to the new features is at the top of the page, center-right, labeled "What's new"

Thanks, Kristine! As Poppa Laughter (pronounced Lodder) would say, "You're a gentlemen and a scholar."

    Well, he'd call you "Lady."

Aipom Man, you can get in trouble for posting unrelated things in an existing thread.

If you want friends, go to the newbie thread, I'm sure someone there will take pity on you.

As for me, I take more kindly to people who seem to have mastered the English language. :/

Glad to be able to help, Chronic :)

...and Aipom Man, not to seem rude, but you shouldn't post unrelated topics in other people's posts. You should take Chronic's advice and check out the newbie thread; make some posts related to the topics at hand or post your opinion in some of the more open threads asking about playstyle, preferences and whatnot.

Why do people always ask this question -.-"
Get Ppt because of having all 3 of the Dragons in it

Get Platinum its newer and updated and it has a lot more pokemon in it. The one thing I couldn't stand in Diamond and Pearl was how few pokemon you could get before the National Dex. Theres also more of a plot so it kind of gives you more to do. Also don't get Platinum for distortion world. So many people mention it all the time, but its honestly nothing to get excited for.

Not cause of anything new in the game i would just go platinum because more variety of pokemon earlier in game like gligar houndour electabuzz and magmar eevee ect
