It depends;

D/P is for the classic RPG style of pokemon while PBR is for competitive battling and nothing else. However pokemonmasterrex has a point, if you don't have D/P PBR will be really dull because you will be forced into using rental pokemon enough said.

Depending on what part of the game you're looking at. I like D/P for it's gameplay, but PBR for its battling part and how it's more 3D in battles.

I wouldn't be able to answer this question truthfully, as I have yet to try out PBR. As of right now, though, I favor D/P more so.
