5th Gen Did you feel the Black and White is more for kids?

Do you feel that Black and White were more for kids?

The storyline seems to be geared toward older players, even if the difficulty of the opponents (especially the low level pre E4 and the fact that no Gym Leader has more than three Pokemon, so I think it evens itself out... IMO it's no more or less kid-oriented than other games in the franchise.

Just had to say that i almost shure the Last one had 4.

They removed poison-damage? Now it's just an inferior burn....oh well, that isn't necessarily aiming it at kids, just removing an irritating game mechanic (which I will now miss).

I think it's pretty normal, tbh. The plot is good, but young children will still understand "you don't steal people's pokémon!"...and the whole "chosen one" thing is always there, they've just admitted it this time :P

The storyline of Gen V is by far more mature than those of other generations. It's nothing an eight year old would be able to wrap their head around very easily.

What I think happens is this. Pokemon veterans have been playing Pokemon since they were kids, and the games have always been designed for kids. When a new generation comes out, it's always been designed for kids, but the people playing the games are getting older, and feel as though the new generations are for kids. The reality is that ALL Pokemon games are for kids, ever since RBY. I didn't really notice that much of a difference since GSC, the first Pokemon games I've played. However, I did notice that in successive games, the rival is no longer hostile, but actually more friendly. Also, the gambling game corner was removed since HG/SS, but other than that, the games maintained the same level of kid-friendliness since the first games.

Yes and no. The storyline, especially N's plan, are actually quite simple on the surface but digging deeper they can be much more interesting and mentally stimulating than the prior "lol take over the world" storylines.

In terms of Pokémon design, however, I think they've taken a step back in terms of target age. The Pokémon all look more cartoonish than ever, almost chibi-style, to an extent. It's hard to explain.

No, all the gym leaders save for the first two which have two pokemon, have three pokemon in their team.

Team Plasma's motives were complete rubbish almost immediately - Ghetsis is not the design of a nice man and at every chance you are shown that, shockingly, Team Plasma's grunts are not actually good people, nor do they particularly believe in what they preach! (everyone take turns while we kick the Munna)

It shouldn't take a particularly canny child to figure this kind of thing out, and any with previous experience playing Pokémon games can quickly realise that Plasma's entire 'cause' is contradictory to the message that every single Pokémon game shoves down your throat.

Exactly what I was going to say. Pokemon games have been and still are for kids. They were intended for the younger population since the very start. It's just a bonus that teens happen to like the game. Just listen to the conversations, they're all corny and nice. If anything, they became more mature because they realized that teens like the game so they don't wanna lose that bonus. But they maintain the friendliness for their primordial purpose. The children.

Well first of all, I don't think that the main line of pokemon games would be for kids less than 7 years old. The game was harder in a sense and there seemed to be more text. N also seems more evil than Cyrus, Giovanni, or any other evil corporation leader. I don't think the people at game freak are changing the game for age, but for enterainment.

Now that I think of it,
B/W was made to be directed to everyone.

I read something earlier that said they didn't release B/W on the 3DS, because not enough people had a 3DS--and they wanted as many people as possible to play it.
