Did you know...

Ash didn't have a Pokémon until a few minutes into the first episode. Also, Meowth is part of Team Rocket, and he doesn't have any Pokémon most of the time.

.. that the characters HitmonLEE and HitmonCHAN were named after martial artists Bruce LEE and Jackie CHAN?

...that Groudon is the only Ground-type Legendary Pokemon to date, except for Arceus?

...that Mew was the first Pokémon trademark ever applied for?

Don't know if this has already been said:
Ash was originally getting a Clefairy, but They changed it to Pikachu quite last minute.
[:

That Jessie and James are named after Jessie James the actor.

That Cassidy and Butch are named after an actor named Butch Cassidy.

...that not only that, but that Jessie's & James's Japanese names also have a linkage to them. James's Japanese name, Kojirō, is taken from Sasaki Kojirō, a prominent Japanese swordsman most famous for being killed by his rival, Miyamoto Musashi. Musashi is Jessie's Japanese name.

They're not actors, they're legendary cowboys...

I would really like some kind of real verification of this.

.....that Xatu is the only pokemon whose name begins with an "X"

....."Tohjo Falls" means the end of Kanto and the beginning of Johto.
KanTO h JOhto.

...that Spiritomb has some odd connection to the number 108? In Pokemon Diamond, Spiritomb's entry states that it was formed from 108 spirits. Spiritomb's number in the Sinnoh Dex is 108, its Defense and Special Defense base values are 108, and it weighs exactly 108.0 kilograms. Spooky.

...that Drifloon, the Jigglypuff evolutionary family, and Qwilfish all share the same species name? They are all known as Balloon Pokemon.

...that in every episode with Hippopotas, Wobbafet has not appeared?

...that only the first episode of Pokemon is actually real and the rest of them are just an ongoing comatose dream that Ash is having.

...that the first 107 Pokemon in Kanto are going to be Stars of Destiny in the next Suikoden game. Georg will be the other one, because he's just that awesome.

...that the leader of Team Galactic shares a secret past with Giovanni, involving robots, explosions and espionage.

...that misty was one of the FIRST main characters to own a nicknamed pokemon...

back to the Ekans thing, Arbok is Korba or a play on words like cobra a type of snake lol....

....that ash caught a pidgeotto but in the johto series he says i remember when i caught a pidgey...and often in the anime they call pidgeots pidgeotto?...It might be a dub error...
