Here is where you can discuss environmentalism and Team Rocket Pokémon Evolution in "Dig Those Diglett!"

    My review to come forthwith.

I love Diglett but I hate this plot. I'm pretty sure someone mentioned it had a similar plot to something that aired earlier.

I wonder what the bottom of a Diglett looks like. Anyone know?

I liked this episode because it was kind of funny and had the unepexcted evolution of TR's Pokemon. I would thought they never would evolved.

    Me!

    Me said:
Plot - some person wants to build a hotel, however, this hotel gets in the way of a Pokemon's habitat and if you can get rid of the Pokemon messing up the plans, the developer will give a reward - anyone reminded of Dig Those Diglett? I know that comes after but I just wanted to say - EXACT same storyline, except the Diglett episode gets Gary.

    Happened in Tentacruel and Tentacool

    Yes, yes you did.

Of course, this episode starts the slow progression of boring that would later become saga of boring.

Haha, I always did find these funny. But there sometimes pretty dull at the beginning.

I barely remember this ep. All I can recall are the Pokemon coming out, then right back into, their Pokeballs....or something like that....

This was one of my favourite episodes in series 1 mainly because of Story B where Koffing and Ekans evolved. Though I found it strange that they evolved randomly without any battling or anything, but I felt it was about time they evolved anyway! Story A is good too as it shows communication between the Pokemon as they are the only ones who notice what the construction is doing to their habitat! It also would have been cool if the evolution was a two parter as it was a big change in the series!

Oh, and the Diglett song rocks!! :P

    Team Rocket's Pokemon evolved. Unexpected.

I love it how their tears made them evolve. I should just hug my Pokemon while watching something sappy like The Notebook, AND JUST MAYBE THEY'LL EVOLVE! ODAM! GENIUS!
*grabs tissue and razor and runs off*

That's pretty sad whenever they take 8-10 years to answer that burning question. How about where Hypno get their pendulum, hmm?

My question was more strange. Anywho, the whole episode can be summed up a Remade Random. With the plot remake and the random evolutions.

Oh, I remember when it was first on and I thought it sounded really cool! I kept saying it over and over and my friends got *so* annoyed XD

I wrote this last night, so let's hope AOL doesn't eat up this one, as well.

I don't disagree how it's a formula rehashed, like in "Cool & Cruel" (Jorah, you said on that, right?). Yes, we had another dose of environment issues and the Pokemon-of-the-day rebelling, although, the tensions within spiced it up.

    1. There was Gary with the kids, and a nice, personal connection. 2. The Rockets' dilemma, as they needed a new game plan. For what it's worth, evolved Pokemon usually increase the rate of success (unless you're a Rocket. Heh).

Plus, it didn't have that destructive/panicked setting that the prior episode had. Not to mention, in "Cool & Cruel," the kids' Pokemon actually assisted against the Pokemon Big Bad. Whereas, here, they definitely did not (except maybe Pikachu).

As for the "randomness" of the Rocket Pokemon evolving, I'm mixed about it. Yes, the evolution came off as random in its appearance, yet I'm sure many a fan asked, "so, are they going to evolve, or not?" 30 episodes in, you figured it was time to address it.

So, because of those extra factors, the episode isn't as cookie-cutter, as it normally would be. Of course, that's my opinion.

I agree with you Char(Yeah, a new nickname) that they put these elements in. But that doesn't keep it from being a remake, more calm, but a remake.

About the evolutions, that really hurt the show for a while.

I liked this episode. It was good to see team rockets pokemon evolve. Ekans and Koffing were getting boring. It was also nice to see Gary again. Team rocket actually put up a fight this episode until the diglett came.

Well, some have called me "C." Heh.

I never said it wasn't a remake, but there are enough different elements to enjoy it outright. Besides, this episode had actual plot in the overall series, rather than the prior episode, which was a mini-arc, at best.

Mini-arcs have plots. But the overall "Umph" of this episode brings it down for me.
