Digimon Masters Online (DMO) is a quest driven MMO set in the Digimon world, having the player travel between the real world and the digital world in order to complete quests, fight baddies find new partners to love and train. The game essentially works similarly to how you'd expect an open world Pokémon MMO to feel, allowing the tamer to recruit new Digimon to join their party and train/evolve them as they progress through experience levels and digivolve into new stronger forms. There's no set story you have to follow and you can very much roam freely throughout the many worlds of the game, but with countless main quests and side quests to guide you slowly through the increasingly difficult areas of the world you're never really left feeling lost and alone. I'll post and explain some screenshots of the game below as from what I can tell it's not a hugely popular game, yet!

Spoiler: Let's take a look inside...
    Spoiler: Intense battle system!

A past-paced battling system makes training Digimon an engaging experience with each Digimon having its own unique attacks and being able to digivolve into new more powerful forms mid-battle to really shake things up, yielding experience and a wide variety of monster drops upon victory.

    Spoiler: Find a new friend!

Obtaining new Digimon partners is made exciting by an egg-drop system, giving each wild Digimon a chance to drop a 'mercenary egg' upon defeat which can then be hatched into your own partner version of that Digimon with your own personal stat touches.

    Spoiler: Power-up and Digivolve!

Each Digimon has its own evolution line as you progress through the levels, making training each new partner something special and exciting as new forms are constantly unlocked.

    Spoiler: The possibilities are endless...

With hundreds of Digimon to collect, items to find, quests to complete, and areas to discover, there's never a dull moment in the digital world.

The digital world expands far beyond what I can include in a single thread but you'll just have to log in and find that out for yourself - the game can be a little complicated at first with bad translations from the original Korean game, but it's well worth a try and I'll happily act as a guide to anyone who needs it. If anyone's playing this game already my IGN is OzzyCake, and if you aren't, why not?

I'm interested to hear people's thoughts on the game in general too - is this a game you'd find interesting, or is it a concept you'd never want to touch in a thousand years? Discuss!

Let me know if you manage to come on, I'll give you the grand tour :D Lalamon is pretty cute but I prefer Falcomon out of the starters, he looks so derpy and adorable ♥

I played a while ago for some time but didn't really get into it, it's really annoying and tedious getting new Digimon and the battle system is the standard free-to-play MMO auto-battle which I really don't like.
I prefer playing Dawn or Dusk when I want some Digimon RPG goodness.

Omg Dusk was the best game ever ♥ I agree that getting new Digimon is a very annoying process haha, that's honestly one of the biggest things that stops me playing the game 24/7. It's so defeating putting hundreds of data into hundreds of Lopmon eggs only to have them all die horribly. Almost feels like genocide or something :p

I kinda want to get into Digimon. Would this game be a good place to start?
Honestly I'd say no haha. It's a really good game but I think a lot of the appeal comes from being able to use/train Digimon that you already know and love - I don't think it'll be a great MMO for people that haven't become familiar with the franchise yet. I'd suggest watching the Digimon anime if you want to get into Digimon, then try out the game and train some of the Digimon you know and love :D

Ok then! Good thing I am literally never busy except 1 day in the middle of the week. Can't wait to watch it. Hopefully I like it lol.

EDIT: Holy Arceus do I start with Digimon adventures first? There's like 5 different series on the anime site I use.

Adventure, Adventure 02, and Tamers are also on Netflix, and in both Japanese (which I prefer), and English.

The series of Digimon are: Digimon Adventure, Digimon Adventure 02, Digimon Tamers, Digimon Frontier, Digimon Savers, Digimon Xros Wars, and the upcoming Digimon Adventure Tri.

Game-wise I think the most newbie friendly game would be Digimon World DS.

Anime-wise well aside from Adventure and adventure 02 all seasons are separate universes which happen in their own continuity, so as long as you watch adventure before 02 any order should be fine.
