Suggestion: Disable smilies

I know there's already a feature where you can change your smilies into text and so forth, but this dilemma comes from still seeing other peoples' smilies. Don't get me wrong, I love to use them, but I just don't like to always see the pictures which come up after using them.

Is therw any way which they could maybe be blocked permanently, or that users can select that option if they choose to? I want to garner other people's thoughts on this as well. :)

Maybe you could ask for an option for you not to see other people's smilies, but I don't think it would be fair to request a permanent block since there are people who do like them.

That was my intention, to not see other people's smilies. Other people can use them, fair enough, but if you were able to block yourself from seeing anyone's smilies, I think I'd be quite happy with that. :)

I'd welcome this feature, seeing as smilies somehow tick me off. So yea, I'm with you on disabling other peoples similies.

This also annoys me when people quote my post and don't have smilies turned off, my smilies turn into the icons which I hate. So I would be all for that.

Honestly, smilies don't bother me at all but if they annoy people so much, maybe this option would be a good idea :P

I don't really hate smilies like you but I don't enjoy them either.So I stand neutral,yet I don't like the suggestion cuz smilies are nice and brighten the mood,but again if somebody shut them down I wouldn't be crying

You could still see them as long as you don't have them disabled. This suggestion isn't to remove smilies completely, just to have the ability not to see them if you don't want.

You can probably adblock them if yiu have that extension/addon. I'm not at a computer so I can't easily check, but if theyre all in the same folder you can right click, block image with adblock, and when it pops up settings, I believe blocking the whole folder is an option. Otherwise you could just do it individually.

Of course, this wouldn't turn them back into text, but you wouldn't see the images if they bother you that much.
