    I'm trying to find out more about ditto. It seems there is great contraversy on whther or not it copies stats. What does tranform actually do?
     
    Your answer to your question is that when Ditto uses Transform it copies the movepool but cuts the PP down by a fraction and also takes there type for example Ditto transforms into charmander it take the type fire but does not mimic the stats of the opponent!
     
    ok I've asked on other forums and there is debate on if it takes stats or not, are you sure it doesn't?
     
    I believe Ditto copies all the stats with the exception of HP. It copies the type and movepool too but you only get 5 PP for each move I think.

    From what i tested with my ditto on both NetBattle and on emerald, it copies the pokemon's Ability, type, sprite(duh), attacks(with only 5pps) and Base stats, and the rest of its stats are based on Ditto's Nature, IVs, and Evs!

    test results on NetBattle showed that both pokemon had the same exact stats when they had the same IVs, EVs. when i gave Ditto differnt EVs, its stats changed with them.




    except for HPs, it stays the same!

    Um, since the mods are done spamming, if that's true then a focus sash ditto would be kind of ultimate, I think it just copies base stats.

    I know what I am talking about, I am an admin on pokemonelement myself and I would have discussed the matter by pm, and so you don't convince me to go completely off topic I will talk about ditto some more.

    I have fought with ditto before, catching them, I used a scyther and I attacked it with false swipe. It didn't even take half, so it transformed and my attack still took the same amount the next turn. It leads me to believe that it doesn't change at all.

    Actually, I assumed the thread was closed, so Musashi just came to reopen it and then move it. It's not like we actually did the discussion here.

    True. A Rattata normally would do. And also it doesn't copy the shininess nor the color in the G/S/C versions.

    hmm alright, are we sure it copies the ability aswell though? To my knowledge when it copies a shedninja it DOESN'T get wondergaurd.
    Also the two items, quick powder and metal powder are interesting in that they double speed and defenses respectively. Why is metal powder the rarer of the two? If ditto copies stats aswell quick powder would be the only useful item. You could transform right away and then copy the opponents stats. Metal Powder becomes useless. Ditto's speed is laughable w/o any item intervention. Why would metal powder even BE an item if ditto copied all stats except hp?
     
    I'm gonna assume that those stats are then altered to Ditto's level, and probably EV's.
     
    hmm I never knew there could be SO much to ditto. if it did copy base stats would the hold items designed for it still work? The hold items only work for DITTO if it transformed will they still work?
     
    so if ditto were level 100 and fighting a level 100 dialga. Ditto's evs were in attack and defenses, would it be just as strong as the dialga, if it copied it's base stats, then it's evs and ivs were proportionaly factored in?
