6th Gen DLC?

That is actually a really good idea. I wish I'd thought of it haha. That or everyone in Hoehn could just be at higher levels, which would make training your Pokemon a lot easier than grinding in whatever Route has the highest leveled wild Pokemon or something.
And what if you cant buy online like me?Besides i am sure people would like to experience Hoenn as Brendan from the beginning, have the normal rival, good old starter pick and fight team aqua/magma.
Additionally i doubt they would even bother creating an entire region in 3D so thankfully the possibilities of this happening are low.

If stuff like this have to be hard coded into the game first, then couldn't those event items that unlocked certain event Pokemon (Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus, Genesect drives) be counted as free DLC? If so, then we've been getting DLC all along, and this can continue on to X and Y.

DLC is actually new content. It's content that wasn't previously in the game at all.

They could even add new Pokemon to the dex this way as free downloads.

Buy an eShop gift card at Wal-Mart. Not that big of a deal.

Anyway, what are you trying to say? They wouldn't bother creating a region in 3D? ... Have you seen X & Y?
Most of the textures and 3D models would already be there from X & Y. All they'd need to create are the special buildings, and everything else is just mapping which doesn't take a lot of space.

Please I do hope there will be no DLC or if there is I hope they won't be of the sort that are overpriced and bring nothing exciting into the game I'm looking at you Call of Duty. If they are very good and the price is acceptable, that's okay but if they follow the bad DLC trends, no thanks.

These are on cartridges, not discs. Cartridges have to have the data coded in them. Even the "DLC" we had for Fifth Gen were preloaded into the game's coding just inaccessible through normal means. Disc games are different as the coding is inserted through a stronger system while it reads a game, but that doesn't mean that it won't mess up when transmitting data from two sources. Look at common Glitches found in Skyrim where the world doesn't completely load or NPCs don't act correctly.

DLC doesn't have to necessarily be "New Content" We knew about some areas for PMD's DLC before they were released and all they really do is randomize new maps with different coded Pokemon encounters/spawns.

As for adding to the dex, that wouldn't work out well. We'd have to constantly patch our games and you would not be able to interact with someone that cannot update since that Pokemon's code would not exist in the other person's data and would cause conflicts as the games read one another. Which was the biggest reason they got rid of the time machine from Gen 2. If there were secret Pokemon, their coding would already exist in the game to have the rest of the coding appear after purchasing.

Either way as I said before it doesn't really look like they'll do the DLC thing(A real DLC not the event downloads). If we have giveaways like new Avatar Items, they'd be through Nintendo Wifi Connection like the Pokemon ones were. We probably won't have to pay for anything which would probably be another reason why Gamefreak may not want to do DLC. They most likely don't want to force their audience to pay for something like that.

Umm What is DLC? I know I am sounding newbish but I dk what that is.

Downloadable Content. Basically add ons you buy for a game to increase gameplay time or experience.

Like Call of Duty has Map Pack DLC where you get extra Maps for the games, DC Universe Online has content DLC where you can get new Powers, weapons, or special items for your character....Uh...Skyrim has three DLC, Hearthfire in which your character can build a home and adopt children, Dragonborn, where you battle one of the Dragonpriest/first Dragonborn as an epic sidequest, and I forgot the name for the first but it adds a Vampire vs Human spin where you can become a super vampire and get a load on new vampiric spells, items and abilities or join an ancient order of vampire hunters and get a load of new spells to fight the undead.

They dont sell e shop gift cards in my country.

I meant an additional region in 3D.
Kalos is enough. They shouldnt use Hoenn as a DLC.I think most people want the nostalgia of playing with Brendan and experience the game all over in 3D starting with a 5 leveled Pokemon rather than using a level 50+ team.
Wouldnt you like to play Pokemo R/S remake from scratch?

Okay...but if they make a Ruby and Sapphire remake like everyone is asking and speculating over, than why would it not be in 3D? That doesn't make much sense. I'd guess that all Pokemon games from here on will be fully 3D. I'd like a to play a remake from scratch sure, but, I also love the idea of not being limited to one region. HeartGold and SoulSilver allowed travel between Kanto and Johto at your leisure. I'm saying, why not make Kalos close to Unova or something and make it accessible. Nothing wrong with that.

I meant make another region in 3D right after Kalos.I am not saying that the remake would not be in 3D.I am only opposed to the idea of Hoenn as a DLC due to nostalgia.Unova is fine.

Please lord no more Unova. We've had the original Black/White, and two new games there as well. The last thing I would ever want to see as DLC is another remake of those regions, just now in 3D. If they were to release another region as DLC for these games (which I honestly don't see happening really, although it'd be awesome), make it Hoenn or Sinnoh. We've already had remakes of Kanto and Johto twice, so one of the other two regions please!

I personally hope they do. The only thing that concerns me is that apparently DLC is different with games on a disc and games on a cartridge. I always thought they could add stuff like new areas of the map and different story scenarios kinda like COD on ps3 but I was told that wasn't the case. Can anyone comment on that?

Hey Trainer1692, I merged your thread over here into the already existing DLC discussion. Feel free to keep talking about it here!

Do you think that Pokemon X&Y could/will have and DLC packs? I think it could happen.

Probably DLC packs for clothes.

I dont see why not. They added other levels in Gates to Infinity.

The Gates to Infinity levels were programmed into the game but you couldn't get to them because the rest of the code to access them wasn't in the game itself and that was where the DLC came in. Those are saved to the 3DS much like a disc based one is done do it doesn't corrode the cartridge, but since they were in the game already as partials with the rest of it existing on the 3DS you could access them safely.

Gamefreak didn't want to answer the question about DLC. Based on how they tried to dodge it I don't think they ever planned for real DLC content, just what they had always been doing. At the moment they don't have any planned DLCs (this is from the E3 conference), but since the question was asked they'd look into trying.

Its not a very hopeful situation if the game is completed and going through bug checks.

Oh..keep in mind for all the DLC enthusiasts. If you switch 3DS's you LOSE the DLC. I downloaded one of the DLCs for Gates and when I started playing on my Pikachu 3DSXL, I could not access it and had to download the free ones again. I had saved in the DLC area and it kicked me back to the city as if I never played it on the other one. So if you get DLC, even if its clothes, the DLCs may or even will not transfer if you change 3DS's for what ever reason unless you try a system transfer if available. If you can't System transfer, you lose the DLCs you had and won't get refunds.

I can't see the idea of having paid DLC in a game like Pokémon. I would imagine they would probably implement it like in Animal Crossing/Fire Emblem: Awakening and have free downloadable cosmetic items/trainers, along side the event Pokémon.

If they do have paid DLC, I would imagine they would have an expandable Sarfari Zone type of area or a chain of explorable areas.
