No don't say imo. It's bad, man.

Seriously, that's one of my biggest pet peeves. When people say imo, imho, and things like that, it bothers me because opinion is implied unless stated otherwise. That's why when someone says X game is better than Y, despite the fact that it's an objective statement grammatically, there is no objective guideline for what makes one game better than another, so it's ultimately subjective. As a result, unless insistence that one is right is added, it's just an opinion.

I think it's kind of a matter of tone - you can easily convey "I'm not stating this hard and fast as a fact" in your tone in real life, but not online. So when you say "Hacking and slashing is dull.", the tone comes out as somewhat authoritative when that isn't the intent, so you add "imo" to reduce the authority of the statement. Tone on the internet is really interesting.

Also as a Call of Cthulhu veteran worldbuilding and investigation is way more fun than fighting.

According to my thoughts that has been subjected to biases and personal introspection...I wanna play more fantasy RPG's with world building and interesting storyline.

Biggest multi-quote of the thread. Where's my emblem?

Yeah, I get that people do it so as to denote that their opinion is...well, opinion, especially since tone and intent are difficult to convey on the internet. But I still find it aggravating because...well, it's not just on the internet. People do the same thing in real life, probably because they want to avoid people taking their opinion as a proclamation of fact and...well, that's a shame. I always hoped that, by 2014, we would be at the point where people understand the division between subjectivity and objectivity, but I hear things like "well that's just your opinion" and "well, X is subjective" enough that I may have to rethink that.

I hear the Tales of games are good at that. As are the Dot Hack games (which I can personally vouch for). There are tons I could list, though. Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Persona, any of the Xeno games (blade, saga, and gears)...I mean, RPGs are my favorite genre (and gaming my favorite hobby), so I could point you to whatever you're interested in.

Only RPGs I can recommend that I've played are Pokemon and Golden Sun

Although watching CC play Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii) I think I can recommend that too

He's giving away 30 copies of the game throughout the game as well

Click the "CC" in case your style doesn't highlight it as a Hyperlink

The hell? Stop watching and start playing, Xenoblade's fantastic. Though for an accurate representation of the game, I'd recommend a review rather than an LP. Or both.

Ocrap, forgot to answer.

Apocalypse World! It's quite a breath of fresh air.

The game's mainly about fluid character interaction and you basically make up the setting as you go along. Not that many dice rolls. Really neat.
You're a tabletop RPer? Wow, that certainly takes moolah. I've always wanted to give it a try, but I have neither the cash or the crowd for it :/

The messed up thing is that the retail price of a Wii is just as much as the retail price for Xenoblade :/

But yeah, they're cheap, and they're definitely worth it. And if you don't want to buy one then you can always just use the Dolphin emulator and play that way (since games look beautiful upscaled to 1080p).

But I really recommend it. Especially with Xenoblade, where there's SO much to do.

AW's playbooks are available for free online, you just gotta print 'em. No moolah required. :P
The people requirement though; yeah that's a bit more tough if you're unlucky. I guess playing pretty much anything over skype or by text is possible, though I definitely don't like it as much.

And now I've oficially started on SAO II.
Character interaction and sensible dialogue clearly isn't the show's strong point, so it's a shame this episode consisted of a big chunk of talking.
...But then I noticed that the sniper chick at the very end is voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro. Damn thing had me orgasm right there on the spot. Dammit Netto tell me these things sooner. 10/10, next episode now please.

Yeah, Sinon is best girl. And best ass.

Haven't seen it yet, but she might even be best character (which shouldn't be too hard to manage) which, from what I've heard, she probably is. Though, considering how much the series has placed on ecchi (seriously, it's growing. You might think ALO was bad, but there's SO much in the Vita games it's not even funny) I do have to wonder how hard they'll ride the ass train.

But in regards to AW, hm...I might give it a shot someday. The idea of tabletops and their open-ended design (one that, to date, video games have yet to match) has always piqued my interest. I'm a big fan of TheSpoonyOne, and he had this segment called Counter Monkey, where he would talk exclusively about his tabletop adventures, both as a GM and as a player. He would always explain it in an in-context way where it would be no different than watching a television show even when, at the end of the day, it was some guys at a table. So I've always been enthralled by the idea.

Night T-K.
