Well he's an antagonist for a while. Until he's dethroned, at least.

That sounds eerily similar to another, particular antagonist I know...eerily similar.

Spoiler:

EDIT: I need to start writing faster.

Yeah, that much is definitely true. It didn't really seem like they new how to deal with the 3D world that they'd committed to in DP. I'd even say the game was rather experimental, and we wouldn't see the fruits of that experiment until BW, where it was put into full effect (and shown off thanks to Unova's aesthetic style and architecture).
Indeed! And what a lovely region it is.

Just having replayed Platinum, Cyrus is such a great villain. You get a pretty well-rounded understanding of what he wants to do and why.

Now that I think about it, he's quite similar to, yet the polar opposite of, Lysandre. The latter's elitist disgust towards the world came from his own passion and what he perceived to be lacking passion in others (iirc, been a while since I played X), which was harmful to his idealistic world view. Cyrus' elitist disgust toward the world seemed to have come from his socially detached mind perceiving emotion and passion (especially toward things not fully understood) as irrational and even detrimental to his view of what the world should be like.

I wonder what their opinion of each other would be.

Well that's the thing, I'm very casually strolling through Eva's show, my emphasis is on the movies, currently. Regardless of the canon, I know zilch about the characters, events, or anything that happens past 2.22. I think I'm on...what, episode 3 of the show? Though, to my knowledge, there are only two versions of Beautiful world. I'll be sorely, SORELY disappointed if 3.0 doesn't have Beautiful World in some form.

In regards to Cyrus, I liked him too. Far more in Platinum than in DP. But I think he's far more interesting than Lysandre because he's far more relatable. Lysandre was basically your copypasta "beauty is life" character, without copious amounts of flamboyance. Cyrus, on the other hand, was a character that grew up in, with, and around the filth and despicable trash in the world, and because of it, shut himself off from them (as well as his emotions). IIRC. I think he's probably the only villain in Pokemon that has an understandable evil plot that makes him both despicable and yet still warranting sympathy.

It's Gainax, so you know.

I do have to wonder about the TTGL movies, though. There are some pretty major changes.

But thanks to them incorporating the multiverse into the show/movie...I still don't know.

I personally take the movies as canon. Love 'em to death.

Well also it's Anno too, so I always go into Evangelion expecting Anno to troll everyone like Tomino does on a regular basis.

Also I tend to count the Gurren Lagann movies as canon too, because it was basically a step-up from the original series, and in my opinion: emphasized how the creator wanted to the series end originally.

The weird thing is that that might not even have been the case.

From what's stated in in-game dialogue, he grew up in the cheerful city of Sunyshore, and was a hard-working but asocial youth. It's implied his family at least partially rejected him for not living up to their expectations, his grandfather regretting not stepping in and supporting the boy at this time. So it seems social alienation and confidence issues played a big role. I don't think it's unfair to say he likely had some sort of mental disability to begin with, of course. Guy's a psychopath, Breivik-style.

Maybe not, but it can't be fun watching the main forum leak into the Other Trivia.

And I wouldn't say that the Rebuilds are pointless. Honestly, I'm all for high resolution remake compilations of shows. Gurren-hen and Lagann-hen were similar, but they only just got released in 1080p last year for $600.

They were also ****ing awesome and amazing. People need to look to those films when trying to make ideal sound design. If you're going to make a show that has "oomph", you CANNOT have poor sound design, it ruins the experience.

I'm all for high resolution remakes if they look better and aren't dumbed down fanservicefests. Original series had far more charm.
