Do books or movies ever make you cry?

    Well, most people I know are really emotional whenever they watch or read any thing that's romantic or anything where someone dies. And personally, it drives me crazy. Probably because I've never cared about romance and just think it's really pointless.

    So, my point is, I'm just curious if I'm the only person who doesn't usually get emotional when they're reading or watching something.

    I've only cried while reading one book, Nicholas and Alexandra. The parts of the book about Alexei's hemophilia are just really disturbing, and made me cry a bit quite a few times. I haven't even gotten to the part about the shooting yet. :/ Most likely it's only because it's a true story, but I still find it odd that I get so emotional reading about the son of the Tsar.

    Movies are a different story, because I've really never been able to get very interested in movies enough to care about the characters.

    The only book that I cried about while reading was The Outsiders. When Dallas died I bawled. He was my favorite character. :(

    Romantic movies never make me cry. Titanic doesn't even make me cry. Movies only make me cry when I have a strong connection to it or when the music and the moment just comes all together and hits me.

    For example in the movie Elizabeth the Golden Age I cried when She was standing watching The English defeat the Spanish Armada. It wasn't because it was sad, but because it was a powerful moment and it touched me. Maybe that's a little deep, but I just get really connected to movies sometimes. :3

    Yes, at the of The Lovely Bones when the couple finds Suzie's charm and says 'This girls probably all grown up by now.' then Suzie says from Heaven;
    "Almost. Not quiet. I wish you all a long and happy life." I cried, because the whole story is about Suzie's coming of age even though she's in her heaven and can't grow she still matures.

    Some movies and only one book made me cry.

    The book: I forget the name of it, but I remember this was back in sixth grade, and it was talking about some guy putting a newly born baby to sleep, because people in that book were not allowed to have more than two kids.

    The movie(s): I only remember one movie making me cry, and it was March of the Penguins. When they were talking about the baby penguins dying, or the eggs that freeze.

    Was it perhaps The Giver? That's the only book I can think of that I've read where there was population control and heavy themes like that. I haven't read it in years, but I remember a scene where the main character's father was talking about something like that.

    I've cried at books. Many books. Nicholas Sparks and James Patterson (his romance novels, specifically) have made me cry at the end. I will admit that I am a sap for romance. I've also cried at two Scott Card books, Lost Boys and Children of the Mind. I've been completely unable to reread those two books, and have only read them once.

    This sounds like The Giver to me, too. A good book, but it didn't make me cry. Books don't usually make me cry. A few times I've felt sniffly or a little wet in the eyes, but I can't think of one that's brought me to tears.

    With movies I'm more vulnerable. They have music to help tug at your heart strings. I got a little teary at the end of Wall-E (shut up, it was sad) and a couple others I can't remember at the moment. Characters dying in movies (or books for that matter) don't really affect me because you can usually see it coming. Surprise, bittersweet endings really get me though, like in A Very Long Engagement. If a movie has been tugging at your emotions, alternatively throwing hopeful and heartbreaking scenes at you for an hour and a half, seeing a character finally finding what they've been searching for all along is too much.

    The movies, they be a curse! Arr! XD
    I get all emotional sometimes....the girls dig it. XD
    Well, actually it's only a few movies that have really been that emotional fer me, the one that comes to mind is Forrest Gump. One of the best movies ever made.
    And an anime made me cry; Clannad.
    Also, I read alot, and sometimes books are better than movies on that sorta thing, so yes. I do sometimes cry.

    Yes, I've cried to a few movies, though I hate to admit it since I'm a guy XD;

    There was this one war film that made me cry, but I forget its name. Like, EVERYONE dies, the person who I thought the main character was, and all his friends. And I've actually cried to Click. I don't know about you, but that was one saaaad movie. But it was funny.

    And I've actually cried to Click.
    I cried at Funny People too. Adam Sandler is getting old :'-(

    Hurr ya I'm sensitive like that. Doesn't take a whole lot to make me cry, I'm most sensitive to the suffering of animals.

    I actually cried during "When somebody loved me" at Toy Story 2 (i think everybody did), i also cried during the death of Anna Sophia Robb's character in Bridge to Terabithia

    No books ever made me cry, not even any tragic romance novel's

    I don't think I've ever cried at a book, though Uncle Tom's Cabin did get me a bit emotional. I'm a crybaby when it comes to TV shows, anime, or movies, though (especially war movies). I was bawling at the end of Saving Private Ryan. ;;

    I cried when I read Twilight. It was so painful to read, it brought tears to my eyes.

    ... that actually did happen. Anyway, I remember crying when Johnny died in The Outsiders. I also remember reading Where The Red Fern Grows, and I cried when the two dogs died at the end. I was about 9 years old. You can't blame me. I loved the dogs. Other than that, I haven't cried while reading, but I do get really frustrated or sad in some parts of books.

    I don't think I've ever cried while watching a movie. I don't get into them as much. Maybe once, but I can't recall the movie for whatever reason.

    I did never cry because of a book, but I was scared as hell when Voldemort was resurrected in Harry Potter 4. Well, I was maybe 10 when I read that book first, I think (or hope) it's normal to be scared of occult and necromantic rituals at that age.

    The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen made me quite sad but I can't remember crying or not.

    Oh god, I'm an emotional sap ;0;

    When I used to have a lot of series I read when I was little, I always seemed to cry whenever I read the last book because I liked it so much xD; I also cried when I finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, as well as when Hedwig died ;___; I'm pretty sure I've cried while reading plenty of other books, but I just can't seem to think of any at the time being.

    And with movies, three that always get me are Hayao Miyazaki's Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away, and Howl's Moving Castle. *sigh* I love those movies though :'D
    Also, I remember bawling during Marley and Me and that movie with those two tiger cubs and Freddie Highmore, I think it's called Two Brothers?? Or something like that xD;

    It was 3 or 4:00 in the morning and I was crying waterfalls after I watched My Sister's Keeper

    and yesterday at 3:00 in the morning I was, yet again crying waterfalls after watching Marley & Me it reminded me of my dog that passed away about 3 years ago.
