Rayquaza - Bahamut
Gyarados - Leviathan
Articuno - Fimbulvetr
Zapdos - Thoron
Moltres - Bolganone
Weavile - Stitch
Zangoose - Scar

First 2 are from Final Fantasy, next 3 are from Fire Emblem, but all 5 are mythological things or something. I think Fimbulvetr means 'winter of winters' or something to that effect. Weavile reminded me of Stitch from Lilo & Stitch for some reason, and Scar works on any Pokemon with claws, fangs, etc.

Nope... I never nickname them... makes it easier for me to recognise which Pokemon is which!! xDD

Waaai~
I want to sometimes but that's only if it's a cute pokémon like Pachirusu or Pikachu, I'll name them something... cute?
I don't know, anyway, Sometimes, most of the time, No.

Waai~

I sometimes nickname mines with anime chaeacters or mythic gods names.

acutally i really dont like nicknames so i just keep my pokemon's name the same.

I nickname them all with funny names, like Alakaboom.
lol.
My little bro also does stuff like that. Now in his new pearl game every time he feals like catch a bidoof (He has like 5 now) he always names it
Bidoooooooooooooooooooof. IT cracks me up.

I give all my battle Pokemon their original, Japanese names, in proper caps. It shows respect and authenticity for the original content.

I give a couple of them nicknames.
Blaziken=Roi (1st part of my name and also roihu means blaze in Finnish)
Rhyperior=Kotaiwa (I dunno why I named it that :P)
Breloom=Tane (I'm pretty sure it meant seed in Japanese)
Bronzong=Brong (Just gave it a short name of it)
Espeon=ESP (I was bored and just gave it whatever name)
Magnezone=Jishaku (Magnet in Japanese I think)
Porygon-Z=Azar (It has some meaning.....maybe it was luck or something...forgot....but it sounds cool :D)
Metagross=Kotesuyoi (I think it means metal or something)
Garchomp=Kamutsu (I think it was combining land and shark or something near that)
Gliscor=Glide (Most less worked on name I ever thought of maybe Sparky beats it or Kitty but meh...)
Weavile=Malum (Think it meant evil)
Lucario (Reversaler)=Hadou (I named it after the wave mews cause aside from that I wouldn't know the word :P)
Tauros= Chikaro (Seriously have no idea what it means) (searched and I think it had to do with power)
Cresselia= Lunacress (Just had a nice ring to it)
Sceptile=Konoha (Means leaf in Japanese)
Lucario (Sp Attacker)= Yokai (Think it meant wave or something)
Gengar=Henki (Dunno :P)
Gyarados= Mizutaki (Think it was combining waterfall with something. Mizu meant sea I'm sure I think Taki was part of waterfall)

I always nickname my Pokémon. :) In my Pearl Version, my Pokémon's names are:

Memphis (Prinplup)
Juliet (Budew)
Rodger (Buizel)
Arwen (Pachirisu)
Squeeful (Chingling)
Breezer (Drifloon)

I usually nickname the Pokémon I plan to use in my team for a longer time.
Some names are random, some are based on their Japanese name.

Empoleon- Stefan
Pikachu- CHuI (I name all my Pichus, Pikachus and Raichus like that)
Roserade- Blumi (the German word "Blume" means flower)
Infernape- Hikki (because of Chimchar's Japanese name)
Staraptor- Mukki (from its Japanese name once again)
Luxray- Kiki
Floatzel- Ken
Togekiss- Jimmy

I only nickname pokemon when I can come up with a good nickname for them and I barely have any:

Glaceon: Yuki
Frosslass: Shino

Nope... I never nickname them... makes it easier for me to recognise which Pokemon is which!!

That describes my thoughts on the matter perfectly. I never remember which is which if I give them nicknames.

I know a guy who always nicknames his starter/favorite pokemon "DOG". He has migrated most of them to Diamond. Now he has 8 pokemon named "DOG"...Does not seem to bother him - Drives me knuts!;)

I always nickname mine. I think its kinda fun to come up with names for them, and they're usualy way better than their original names. I name most of mine after espers/summons from the final fantasy series xD
