Do you still actually watch the new episodes of pokemon?

I WOULD if i could but i can't because it's like seven in teh morning it begins honestly you would think that SOME older people would watch it i was on teh tube and this say....43 year old guy was watching sonic x XD i tried not to laugh...

I stopped watching the anime on a regular basis after the Johto series. Off and on I'll watch some of the new episodes when CN has reruns on (to my dismay, one of them was centered around Bidoof), and I really don't care for it anymore.

I still watch the new episodes, because even though some have given up faith...I know something extraordinary will happen for sure...plus I like the idea how they are trying to change it up a little bit...

I'm 30 and I still watch cartoons/anime, and I plan on still watching them when I'm 43. :\

I've been with the anime since it began in the US 11 years ago. I always thought it would be a passing fad with me, but it wasn't. Through good seasons and bad, I watched it. (Though admittedly, I did miss a large chunk of Season 5, but my interest was renewed with the end of that season, the Johto League Silver Conference, which was all kinds of awesome.)

Yes, the new voice actors took some getting used to, and it didn't help that the whole Battle Frontier season felt like a huge filler. There were some good episodes to come out of it though. When Diamond & Pearl began in Season 10, I felt the voice acting became immensely better. Either that, or I just got used to it. The problem is, things change whether we like it or not, and I wasn't going to let a switch in a dubbing company ruin a show I enjoyed for 9 years at the time.

Not only that, Diamond & Pearl has much more interesting episodes than has been seen previously. And far fewer continuity mistakes. And DP Battle Dimension? BY FAR THE BEST SEASON OF POKEMON SINCE THE FIRST. Pokemon Hunter J? Great antagonist. Balances the silliness of Team Rocket, which I for one still enjoy. Look, Team Rocket is a staple and isn't going anywhere. I think I even said in another thread, they're more part of the protangonists anymore rather than the villains. They have their own goals and history, for example, the episode with Jesse and Dustox gave us another piece of Jesse's past. So instead we're given Pokemon Hunter J, Team Galactic, and Paul. Paul is an interesting addition. I mean, he represents us as Pokemon gamers, really. If we catch a pokemon with less than perfect IV's, we release it, right? Not the right nature? We breed another one, eh? Isn't that what, as viewers, we're made to hate about Paul?

I could go on about the other aspects of the latest season I enjoyed, but I've rambled on long enough already. :knockedou

I have YouTube for both the English and Japanese anime episodes. I've been keeping up on it for about a month and a half now.

I can't wait for the 13th. Best episode in the entire anime. /bias

For whatever reason, as I've said before, I don't like DP nearly as much as the AG, or the original series. To me.. DP is close to what Johto was, because I didn't watch too much of that one either. DP was exciting to me, when it first released.. buuut after awhile it couldn't hold my interest much. I will watch certain episodes, but it's a limited few out of all the one's in the series so far.

So, no.. I suppose you could say that I don't watch the new episodes.

Keep in mind that with the Sinnoh region, Ash's Pokemon actually evolved and are interesting.

It took until the Battle Frontier for Ash to realize how useful Phanpy was, and Ash uses Heracross, but as for the three starters and Noctowl, he doesn't use them, period. Which is pathetic, but understandable because they're all pathetic themselves ._.

At least Ash's Sinnoh party shows some prowess in battle. :#

I feel as though I need to write something long due to the fact a lot of people have. :P

I've watched Pokémon faithfully for as long as I could remember. Back when 4Kids was still dubbing the show, I would usually try to ignore the fact that they got rid if a lot of words from a lot of signs. But somethings I couldn't get passed were completely useless edits and idiotic dialouge, which thankfully wasn't as noticeable to me. One edit I remember them doing was the famous-to-me rice ball edit in AG. I remember them making it into a sandwhich and it was just so unbearable for me to watch a lot Hoenn that was to come. After that episode, I stopped watching the dub and started reading summaries of the episodes. I got back into the dub when I heard the 4Kids would lose the rights to the show and that my second to last least favorite region would come to an end.

During BF, I started to watch the show more faithfully again mainly because I liked how most of the battles against the Frontier Brains were playing out. The new voices though were really tough to handle for the first 15 episodes or so. But I finally got back in Pokémon.

Personally, I find DP to be my favorite region so far. Mainly because I like the tactics used in battle (Of course, there were ones I didn't like such as Crasher Wake.) and some interesting fillers. There were bad fillers and some really good ones and I enjoy the cast, yes even Brock to some extent, and their pokémon. I also liked the fact the Team Rocket actually had somethings going for them such as Jessie winning contests and, erm, well, Jessie is a start. I like the movies that the show is starting to produce and I find the show more enjoyable than when it was in Kanto. The pokémon are more fascinating, the recurring characters, and other things that keep my interest up. Some of these interests would be that the Elite Four are actually starting to appear and that Cynthia and Team Galaxy are interesting to me. So in short, yes, I still do watch the show.

They don't put it on TV anymore, but even if they did, I still wouldn't, just too boring for me.

I have seen a couple of them when there was nothing on. But they aren't as good as they used to be. Or, really, I was tired of the same story lines over and over.

A good topic for a first post.

I've just gotten back into pokemon after a few years. I stopped watching the anime in middle school, which was back around 2001 or so. But over the years I've played the games every once in a while, and it's always been enjoyable. Recently, I was channel surfing and came across Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. It was the first episode, so I decided to watch it. Thus, my yen for pokemon had returned.

I decided to watch the show from the start since I've never even seen all the episodes. The Indigo League episodes were fantastic. The Orange Islands were ok. Johto is where the problems began. And after reading the other posts, it seems that's where most other fans ran into trouble as well. Johto is just plain boring. Indigo League and Orange League the show was exciting and funny. Johto just = boring. Episode after episode is just helping out other people. People with stupid pun names. But I guess that's how it's gotta be for the kids eh?

It's just a shame, because pokemon used to be so great. I really want to continue watching because I've heard it gets better once the series moves to Hoenn. However I wonder how much more interest I'll lose once Misty is gone? I almost went nuts when Brock left during the Orange Islands. Brock is definitely one of my favorites, along with Misty, Jessie and James (I don't have any favorites from AG or D&P because I'm not there yettttt) I wonder if it's just my age? Do other fans around my age have the same problems when watching pokemon? I've moved on to such anime as Naruto because I love the action and the character development. Not to mention the great story. I just wish pokemon could have the tiniest bit of character development, and maybe some more pokemon evolution. Also, has anyone noticed that Ash's Pikachu loses most of it's battles in the Indigo, Orange, and Johto league's? I've seen that a lot. It seems the only battles Pikachu wins are against Team Rocket. You can complain about Team Rocket, but they always make me laugh. I just love watching James get eaten by Victreebel all the time haha. Speaking of Jessie and James, it's great how they never realize that they have the rarest pokemon in the world!

I won't bother writing much more, since my opinions on the show are basically the same as everyone else's here.

So what's your opinion? Does your age affect your view of the pokemon world? Is it worth it for me to continue watching the some 1000 episodes? All responses welcome.

Regarding the OP's original point: What, so you're saying that Satoshi trespassing even further into Gary Stu-dom than he already has, winning against every trainer that comes his way and blitzing all the championships is going to make the show better?

I'm completely up to date with the latest Japanese episodes. I don't see why people say that the show has become boring. I was reintroduced to the anime at about this time last year - I believe the first episode I saw of Diamond and Pearl was DP060, first aired December 20th - and I was actually surprised about how different it was to the last episodes I remembered. The last I had seen was just over a half of the way through the Johto seasons. Specifically, I was shocked about how much better they were. Even the new dub episodes are vastly improved. The storylines, while often feeling recycled (DP073 and EP021, DP080 and EP177, for example), often have a fresh new perspective on the plot, and certainly feel like they surpass the old episodes. Take the most recent Japanese episode. DP103 - Chaotic Mêlée in Mio City! - was a humourous episode, and one which would have been seen as boring filler in the days of Johto or Hoenn. However, 103 was actually one of the highlights of the last thirty or forty episodes, despite the oft-repeated, slightly thin plot.

I don't understand how people can say that the new episodes are boring when compared to older ones. The original series holds fond memories for some, though I think these opinions are rather... clouded by nostalgia. Looking back, the episodes are actually rather poor, in my opinion. They got better as time went by, the artists and the writers improving, but it started to go downhill around halfway through Johto. This was around when I started watching, but I've seen Hoenn episodes since returning to the anime, and their only redeeming features was the improved art. But the new episodes are much improved, and this is obvious in the increasing profile of the Pokémon franchise, at least in the UK.
The earlier episodes were great. And the first part of Johto and Hoenn was okay to me, but it just started going downhill. But I agree with you, D/P is actually pretty good. But to be honest, the whole thing is getting old. I mean....its so repetitive. Ash goes to new region. Ash gets all 8 gym badges and somewhere along the way he stops some disaster that could tear the world apart. Ash goes to Pokemon League. Ash gets to final battle of Pokemon League. Ash loses...barely, but still loses. After his battles with Gary and Harrison in Johto, this should have been stopped. Ash has only won two things- the Orange League and the Battle Frontier, and they dont really count. You'd think that by now he would be able to win at least once. I hope he wins the Sinnoh League, because if he doesn't...*sigh*

Yes, its more exciting every episode to me. This season is moving a bit fast for my taste but it is still good. Its just that each episode does not last long enough.

Occasionally. I have to admit, I still enjoy the occasional romp through the current Region. I don't watch it religiously anymore, but I do watch it every once in awhile just to see where things are at.

Well do you? Ive oficially given up on this show. Ive been waiting for something to truly happen that will advance ash's pokemon master dream in vain. So far its just been 500+ episodes of him wandering around collecting badges, and for what? He never wins a championship. Its like a waste of time especially when he loses these battles against other trainers he could easily destroy with his other pokemon. Also, Dawn seems like she's being imposed on me as if im supposed to care abut her as much as ash like shes just as important. Team rocket got old, brock got old, the plot got old too. Its soooooo boring. They really should try ending the series soon and maybe try making a fresh new one with new characters that have more personality.
No, mostly because of the new VA cast :P.
