Not true. Nintendo themselves have stated that it is illegal to download, distribute, keep, or otherwise use a ROM even if you own the game. :x Taking screenshots is easy, though--just get a TV tuner and use that. (I just whine about handhelds, in that case--I'd love for them to release some way for me to output my DS in a way that would let me take screenshots but until they do, it's still illegal to grab a DS emulator and fire up ROMs for it.)Also, situations may vary. For example, I'm a fan of Zelda and I have a rom of both Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask (technically it's ok for me to have a rom of them because I own a legal copy of the game) but there are some things one needs a rom for. Taking clear screenshots, doing fun things with the game and ripping textures for pure fun, non profit use is impossible on a real game cartridge but made easy because of roms.
