Also, situations may vary. For example, I'm a fan of Zelda and I have a rom of both Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask (technically it's ok for me to have a rom of them because I own a legal copy of the game) but there are some things one needs a rom for. Taking clear screenshots, doing fun things with the game and ripping textures for pure fun, non profit use is impossible on a real game cartridge but made easy because of roms.

Not true. Nintendo themselves have stated that it is illegal to download, distribute, keep, or otherwise use a ROM even if you own the game. :x Taking screenshots is easy, though--just get a TV tuner and use that. (I just whine about handhelds, in that case--I'd love for them to release some way for me to output my DS in a way that would let me take screenshots but until they do, it's still illegal to grab a DS emulator and fire up ROMs for it.)

Piracy is sort of illegal by definition. Though I suppose it's part of a greater debate about copyright.

I'll never stop. I haven't got the fuggin' money to get all these things I get, and if there's another way, I'll take it, and enjoy it. For the greater personal good of myself.

That doesn't solve the ripping of textures for creating fan Zelda worlds. And if you say that's illegal too, then I guess making sprite towns from Pokemon graphics is illegal because it's the same thing and all sites providing sprites from any Pokemon (or any game for that matter) are illegal.

Piracy, eh? Should be legal. I have a fearsome hunger to sail the open seas and raid any ship that I come across.

Internet piracy should be illegal, but no one has a right to search through my files on my computer at borders and airports.

Technically, that's a form of copyright infringement. :/ Just like fan fiction.
