At my school, Pokémon is pretty much an accepted thing. We all grew up with it, so wearing T-shirts and bringing the games, cards, or even plushies to an extent aren't frowned upon. However, it seems that people outside of our school, sometimes the same age, but usually older, think the series is strictly aimed at young children. Now, for the cartoon, I understand, but the games? They've always seemed to have been like a Star Wars sort of thing to me, where the target audience is basically everyone, and although it might lean one way or the other, it's not strictly for children or adults.

So it's a simple question, really. Looking from a totally non-biased view, do you think Pokémon is something that kids should stick with, or the entire populous should enjoy?

    the cartoons: yes

the games: no way i feel the exact same mate but i dont care what other people feel like.

Pokemon isn't childish at all. I think It's aimed at people of all ages because the game seems more to be aimed at more of a general audience.

My school frowns on the idea of Pokemon; some of us like Pokemon and we think It's a classic game with a funny TV show. I just think the people who think It's childish are childish themselves for making fun of a perfectly good game.

your totally right sonido people who say these things are just stupid

hello it a game just like cod and halo

I understand some games are classified as "cooler" because they have shooting or deaths in it. I think Pokemon is a very interesting game that people have to use their brains to play it properly so why stereotype it as a childish game. Most of the people who say It's childish have played it themselves so they are actually calling themselves childish.

    confusing but exactly right.

these shooting games are in a way, way to easy.

pokemon is strategy through and through.

and if i dont mind saying so one of the best if not the best
    startegy game out there.

The point of the anime is to advertise the games, so why would they aim the anime at children if the games aren't for children? :P The game's target audience is children, but I think it is something everyone of all ages can enjoy.

It also appeals to a general audience wheras the "cooler" shooting games only appeal to people who like blood and death. I mean COD and the others are good games but I just think Pokemon is not to be put down and said as childish.

we could go on forever but basicly look at the amount of people on here over 10 and see for yourself.

I actually do think Pokémon is childish. It's aimed at children, or at least the anime is. I know I'll probably always play the games, but that's kind of different. The games are more aimed at everyone, but two minutes watching the show and you can tell it's aimed at eety bitty kiddies. :3

The anime, yes, especially the newer series.

The games, no. Just no. I mean, do you think they'd have a whole tower dedicated to gravestones if it was that young.

I agree to an extent the older series in the anime are not anywhere near as childish as the newer series but it there still is teh odd innuendo somewhere

On a side note thursday i get my DS *yay* so ill be getting diamond ro pearl soon after

Hopefully, everyone agrees with me when I say that Pokémon is basically for everyone who likes Pokémon. Many only followed it through trend, but as the time grows older, those who followed it abandoned it for the newest fad.

Now, back to the topic, I only see the anime as a kid-based series, nothing too childish, but nothing that has to be censored.

Unless if you count that Porygon incident.

The cartoons now a days are certainly childsih. From the first season up until the middle of Johto it could be at all ages. It had those life lessons in it that really made you think about all those life lessons it, especially the first two movies. It certainly seems like those life lessons are long gone.

The manga, certainly not. Have you seen the graphic content in there? Its awsome.

Games: The games are simply getting boring for me because of they have the same storyline, but all in all not really. After all, how many adults play Mario?

In all honesty, pokemon can be looked at from any direction. You can make fanfics and games out of them with a darker storyline that is more suited for teenagers. Its the same thing, with just a hint of a twist, so all in all, no, I don't think pokemon is childish. It's just how you view it.

    Manga = NO!
T.V. Shows = Yes, but an older person CAN enjoy them.
Games = Maybe aimed at younger people, but still pretty teenage-fun and great fun for all ages.

I think the games are an 'all-audiences' market, most especially when you consider the competitive side of battling and breeding, for example. The toys, anime and, to an extent, the manga, could be aimed at children, but I guess it's up to adults to decide if they like it. I'm 20 and have loved it since the R/B/Y days!

Yes, it's a wonderful childrens franchise that can be enjoyed by everyone.

    It's obviously a kid's series.
    Why do you ask?

You are extremely lucky, Mezase Master. There are people on this site (myself included) who no-one knows likes pokemon, because for them, its complete social suicide. I personally see the anime as something that is child-aaimed, but can be enjoyed by all, and to a lesser extent, the games. Though I've never read the manga, my understanding is that it is aimed at teenagers, rather than younger children.

No i dont consider pokemon childish i think its for everyone really alot o people find the cards amusing and want to collect others get the games i think its for all ages
