Debate Do you think the climate change plans will make a difference?

    COP has been on the news, but you can certainly look it up!

    Personally, us average people are being punished for something that major oil companies have done (This doesn't mean I disagree with society as a whole going green! But I feel like the blame is being put on us to distract from the fact that fracking and fossil fuels are harmful?), but we can't expect those billionaires to want to do anything to change. I like that countries themselves are saying they'll cut oil and fossil fuel use, but I feel like we need more radical changes, more passion for this planet that provides us with everything.

    The megawealthy need to contribute too.
     
    I really doubt that these new plans/pledges will make any significant difference, people in power aren't interested in dealing with this problem. It's just more promises they'll never fulfill, while pushing responsibility onto the general public while the entities that would by far make the most impact (governments and corporations) are allowed to keep doing what they've been doing. They've been dragging their feet all this time so far, and I don't see why they'd suddenly and genuinely give a fuck now.

    It's going to take more than cutting greenhouse emissions to some degree to deal with this anyway.
