I was just wondering how many people use walkthroughs when they are playing. I use them (even though I know the game fairly well) because it shows the trainers Pokemon (so I know who to use) and in case I forget something or need help getting through caves.

Also, if you do use walkthroughs, which websites have you found best? I found that Psypokes has the best, IMO.

If you're talking about a walkthrough that ells you where to go and all the major plot points, then not anymore. I used one in the RBY era because I was young and stupid and it took me forever to figure out how to get past Viridian City. >_>

However, if you'r talking about guides in general, like looking up what gym leaders are coming up, their type speciality, and their pokemon's levels, then yes. I tend to use that as a rough indicator of how well my pokemon are doing by that point inthe game, and if they're too weak, I take the time to grind them to match the leader's levels. :P

I only use walkthroughs for after the completing the game to see what there is to do. Very rarely will I need a walkthrough for the main storyline because I don't really find it that hard to know where to go.

I use walkthroughs, but that doesn't mean I need them. Pokémon is pretty linear and it's not hard to figure out. I use my guides so I don't miss any side quests type things or items. I buy the strategy guides offered in the stores since I collect them just as much as the games and because I just always have.

    I don't think I've ever used a walkthrough.
I find Pokemon to be pretty easy to understand, when it comes to what to do next.

Especially since theres those people who wont let you leave the town. 'Hey have you checked out the gym?!'

I've always found it less fun to use a walkthrough..
It spoils all of the things that lie ahead, and if you read about the events that will occur in the game before they happen it takes away the shock value.

But if I'm really stuck then I will use one.
I've only ever used one when I was stuck in the maze called Maylene's Gym in Platinum, and some other time I can't recall at the moment. :x

    Sometimes.

I read a walkthorough about G/S/C since I didn't have the game but I didn't read them for the ones I had

I never used them for Pokémon. I used some parts of a walkthrough for Zelda OOA and OOS though.

If I'm playing the Japanese version and I come across something different (like some of the changes in Platinum), then I'll look it up. Otherwise, I just wander and try to make something happen.

i use one to find only things that i think i miss like hidden items and some hidden areas like the caves where gibles are only to be found in dppt which i would say a really hidden area.

I very rarely do, unless I wanna see where to catch a specific Pokémon that I haven't got yet. I will, however need to look at one soon, as I havent played Platinum for a while, and I cannot remember how to get to Spear Pillar the second time round, cos im a noob! ^^,
