Do you want to be able to save more than 1 game file?

In the future, do you want to be able to have multiple game files on a single cartiage? It would be eaiser to do that instead of starting over or buying multiple games (which I do a lot)

but then again you wont be able to trade (unless they have some kind of key device or something) So what do you think?

Absolutely. That would be so sweet.

âgree. This would especially be nice if you could trade Pokemon between the savefiles, so you could use one savefile as some kind of 'treasure chest' for Pokemon you don't want to delete, and don#t have to get an extra cartridge for it.

I think they should, and be able to trade between the two

    ... I wonder who doesn't want multiple files. o.o

I think a better question (a bit more interesting, at least) would be: would you like multiple files at the cost of other regular features? Not trying to hijack your thread or anything, but it'd be nice to see regardless.

A fairly large portion of us would like multiple files to save, trading or not, myself included.

    Of course not!

If we were to have 2 save files on one cart, either the games would be really bad, or we would have no backup in case we incorrectly save!

But if memory expands enough, and they are able to keep backups and have 2 carts, then yeah.

I would like to have two saves files, but that would give us less reason to go out and buy both verisons, because you could have to files with different starters. So I dont think that it would ever happen but it would be nice.

Yes, but that will probably only happen on whatever the next gen handheld will be, if they decide to make the cartridges bigger/better on that one.

This is the reason GF makes the games only have 1 file, and probably one of the reasons they make two versions in the first place. At least, that's my theory. I assume they want players to buy multiple games, which is why we still haven't gotten more than 1 save file. That's the only reason I can think of.

To answer your question, I'd love it if I didn't have to restart my game to relive the adventure.

Just as a bit of information:

Having seen pokemon savefiles and gamefiles (ROMs and whatnot). The DS already has the capability to handle the games (which are a few megabytes less than 128) and their savefiles (around half a MB to much less each).

There is also the fact there are games like Kingdom Hearts and Rockband which are (somewhere under) 256 MB. (If you've played with emulators, you'll know what I'm talking about).

Point being, they could easily create the option to have more than one savefile...maybe 3, maybe even more than that. So I'm guessing it is mostly for marketing purposes.

Not gonna happen. As you said yourself, having only one savefile per cartridge encourages us to purchase the other titles. This is probably half the reason that two/three games of the same adventure is released. Catch 'em all, and a different save file on each game. :)

It won't happen. DS Cartridges already have the ability to hold far more than a Pokémon game. Having multiple save files wouldn't take away from the game, but it would take money from the pockets of Nintendo, and that's something they don't want. It'd be cool, but yeah I don't see it happening.

It wouldn't be a huge deal for me now, but back when I first got red, me and my brother both wanted to play our own game and realized we couldn't. Tensions were high until another copy was purchased.

    ...I already can.

But on a regular game (no flashcart) it would be worth it, I think. As long as it doesn't take away from the game itself.

Just like to point this out. Oh, and you incorrectly save A LOT more than you think.

That is a great idea! That way your siblings don't have to mess up your file! And there will be a password protection for each file.
