Do you write songs?

I mean in the area where I live, it's rare to find someone into bands with real musical talent. 's really depressing when you've been trying to get a band started for a year or two and keep finding people who's idea of technical music to be Slipknot. D:

I try to, but trying to make a tune for the lyrics to go along to is damn hard for me, and my attempts at lyrics usually suck due to the fact that I find it hard thinking up anything original in terms of music, sometimes I will think of something that works, and then stupidly forget to write it down, so I forget the song....

That Lunch Jam idea sounds great! Back when I was in High School all we got was kicked out the Music Dept. for making too much noise when we practised...

Seriously though, our instruments were plugged into headphones... no one could hear us!

Oh believe, me, it's a great environment.
Check it out if you want, all the performances are on youtube. Just search "NHSFridayLunchJam".

@AlgoFonix - Oh, sorry. :embarrass I feel so stupid for misunderstanding you. Sorry for acting so angrily. I do apologise. I feel like an idiot now.

Hmm... I partially agree with you. Music is basically expressing emotions through sound, so I guess Screamo and Death Metal could be an effective way of displaying anger. On the other hand, bands like Avenged Sevenfold arn't really showing what we musicians consider as "technique" bu simply playing the same two chords over and over again while grunting.

@xJordan360
- I watched the vids, looks like an amazing medium for musical expression. I must admit though, that theme tune is awfully cheesy :D... Though I guess its hard to write a song called "Friday Lunch Jam" and not make it cheesy! I didn't watch a lot of videos, but I was happy to watch a cover of "Folsom Prison Blues" that I though was pretty good. I guess you're Jordan, the guy who recites "The Catalyst" in one video. Nice imagery in that poem.
