TV Doctor Who Discussion [Spoilers!]

Gonna watch it tomorrow if it's up on the BBC America website and post my thoughts. I hear it was very good!

I won't say too much, but to me, the best Dalek episode since The Stolen Earth/Journey's End

Right, so that episode was the best of the whole series. And it's honestly one of the best Dalek stories in quite a long time.

So, I've got some thoughts.

Series 11 was pretty OK. Sadly, just ok. I was honestly hopeful for something pretty exceptional as I was excited for all the big changes, but I think overall this series was pretty underwhelming. Bad? Not really. Just underwhelming. I love Jodie as the Doctor but she definitely needs to grow into the role some more before I could call her a fave.

The dynamic between Ryan and Graham is fantastic but Yaz basically might as well not exist. She has had no real character development, is fairly redundant in most of the stories and will honestly go down as super forgettable unless they fix her next series, which is a shame because I don't think she's a bad actor, just poorly written. On the contrary, Graham is absolutely one of my favourite companions the show has produced, so there's two sides to that coin.

The monsters of this series were perhaps the worst part. Too many "we're not actually evil" type deals going on here. That's why, for me, Resolution was easily the best episode of the series. A proper villain, and a returning one to really amp up that excitement factor? It was good, and honestly I think it's fair to consider this the finale of series 11 rather than episode 12.

Some work needs to be done, but they have some good ideas and good characters to work with. I'm hoping series 12 will bring more consequences, more threat and more development for our characters that still don't quite feel right.
