Why do some people prefer some genders over others?
I know sometimes some of the pokes have different sprites when its a certain gender but is that the only reason why they want a certain gender?
Do guys just want males and girls want females?
I personally don't care of the gender but why do you think people are like this?
    Which would you pick?
Do you care of the pokes gender?

I actually have my team of pokes go boy, girl, boy , girl.

I could care-less on which gender is most on my team.

some pokemon just don't look right being considered "male" or "female" I mean what the heck would Female Machoke be? It's body type is of male because it is one of the "human shape pokemon" (think this is like egg group if i'm right) but whenever I fight a female machoke or any of its other forms the first word that goes through my mind is "transexual" 0.0!

I ALWAYS have to have my milotics female, machamps male, etc. Just because of how they look, I like it to match. Also, Mence is a schmexy female. lol

But serriously, I like the male symbol better, though I don't ever really care what the gender is, excpet for certain pokemon. And blissey is ALWAYS female, so ya know.

For competition, I prefer to have my Pokemon be male, to pass on Egg Moves. Which is why most of my team is comprised of male Pokemon. Though if I get the right nature on a female, I tend to keep her.

Sometimes, though, I do use females for competitive battle. It's either because the Pokemon species is always female, or because I just felt like nicknaming the critter with a feminine nickname.

Depends on the Sprite now, I prefer my Scyther as females due to the enlarged abdomen actually making it look better

Generally, I don't care. However, I typically end up looking for females, particularly female starters, because once I have a female, it's easier to obtain fresh Pokemon of her species, rather than spending time out on the field. I could use a Ditto, but just having a female of one species and at least one male of the same Egg Group guarantees that I'll be able to get more Pokemon either way.

However, otherwise, for Pokemon that are insanely common and/or easy to catch, I just get whatever gender I can snag first and be happy with it through the game until it comes time to do some breeding. And, anyway, after breeding, I just take whatever's the best Pokemon out of the batch, regardless of gender.

There are, however, a few Pokemon I'd like to avoid. Like female Wobbuffet with her Lipstick o' Le What. I mean, seriously. That's not even cute, Nintendo, much less amusing.

I guess favoring a gender over another varies on some cases. Take Luxray for example; it's ability Rivalry raises its attack when engaged in battle with the member of the same sex. But what are the chances of meeting the same gender? ...

There is also the case of evolution, when filling up on your Pokédex. You'll need to acquire a female Snorunt to obtain a Froslass. In my case, I'm apathetic when it comes to certain sprites. But I think Jax Malcolm above made a good point about the female Wobbuffet. Hideous. And I actually do prefer males over females, even though I'm a female myself. *shrugs*

In most cases for me, gender doesn't really matter. Things like Snorlax and Medicham, I don't care for gender (unless I want to give it a certain nickname).

But big mean nasty looking pokemon (like Gyarados, Heracross, Tyranitar, Ursaring, Charizard), it's like MANDATORY for me to have them as Male. 8)

I choose all girls for my baby team (Like pichu and cherubi)
And for my strong ones like charizard I choose male.

I have all genders in my teams in every generation: male, female and genderless. I have a female Intimidate Luxray, and she rules.

I don't really mind, but my female Geodude bugged me for a while...now I'm over it, I don't really care.

It doesnt really matter that much to me... my team is a mixture of both

    lol don't care

as long as it aint a female Mr.Mime

    tahts just creepy

I don't care what gender is on my team... However there are some Pokemon that have genders that really creep me out.

Like some of you said, Female Machokes/Machamps and Mr Mimes. Y'know what's scarier? Male Milotics, Lopunnys, and Gardevoirs. Thank goodness Gamefreak made an alternate male evolution for Kirlia.

    Scariest: Male Misdreavus *shudders*

    Scariest: Male Misdreavus *shudders*

Agreed. Unlike female Mr. Mime (which can be explained by "the translators were stupid"), male Misdreavus really shouldn't even exist, considering the fact that banshees are female only spirits to begin with. O_o

So, what, we've got a drag queen banshee?
