From what I've heard from
Phantasia's soundtrack, I like Symphonia more~

I prefer Symphonia, because I couldn't even finish Phantasia when I was at my friend's house. Symphonia has a more in-depth plot in my opinion and a uber amazingsu cast. I had no problem with Symphonia because a console game because I was so into in. ;; Phantasia is just another game to me, really. While Symphonia.....

32

When you get Symphonia while the Wii is connected to the TV in your parents' room...

Symphonia's "Fighting of the Spirit" definitely tops Phantasia's, for sure.

'Course, I like the Dept. Heaven series way more than I'll ever like Tales of. Great stories, great uniqueness, great OSTs, great Japanese cast... Dept. Heaven > Tales of to me.

34

-nod- My parents don't care when we're in their room.

Tales of > any game 've ever played. But, hey, opinions are opinions~ That's what makes everyone different after all!

35

It was also my mom's office, and so I really couldn't stay for too long. My stepdad also didn't like it either. Really, the entire upstairs minus one room was ours, and other than the bathroom that was the only room they could stay in.

You should try the Dept. Heaven series. Not so I can prove you wrong or anything (I got into Dept. Heaven long before Tales of, so it'll always hold a special place in my heart), but just so you can get your own opinion of it~ /plus more people need to get into the series anyways

The main three (spinoffs excluded) are out in America for both the GBA/DS (the fourth episode/the third one to be released is for the DS while the first two episodes are for the GBA) and PSP (all three are for the PSP). There are two spinoffs of the second episode, one for the DS and one for the PSP, but those are import-only.

Oh, right. Another thing that makes Symphonia superior to Phantasia would be the skits, unless Phantasia does have them later on. The Symphonia skits are the best.

36

Oh, ouch. That stinks.

Symphonia was my first, ever RPG game, yup! I'll see if I can try it sometime, like get a game for my birthday or something.

37

You could also just get a VBA and No$GBA and download them :B Though the fourth episode is a bit fast-paced with danmaku and all, so it's probably better to play it on the DS/PSP. And you don't really have to play the games in order or anything. They may all be connected in various ways, but it's not like you have to play the first episode before the second one (I did, but that was only because someone introduced me to that and then I played the second episode afterwards).

And as for my personal recommendation, Yggdra Union, the second episode (which also has the spinoffs), is amazing in terms of battle style, characters, OST, etc. The first episode, Riviera, has a great OST, cast, and battle system too, but I know the fact that you use triggers to move and w/e causes people to stop playing it. Knights in the Nightmare is good for people who like fast-paced stuff, but the fact that you're using already dead knights and the storyline on its own makes it kind of a dark game.

39

Pfffffffffft.

Also, Riviera takes place after Yggdra Union and Knights, and I think Knights and Yggdra Union take place around the same time. It's kind of like how Phantasia came before Symphonia but takes place after it.

One person I know on LJ contributes a lot of the series' guide in the community for it, so you could find out a lot about the series there.

41.

Yeah, Phantasia has skits later (as in any remake after the GBA one, I think).

The whole class just got 100% on the test because something was wrong with it and my teacher didnt want to bother to fix it. :DDD

42

XD

With Knights, you DEFINITELY need to go through the entire tutorial (you can have the tutorial on in the PSP version in-game, but not for the DS, which is out of game only). Riviera gives you a tutorial in-game whether you want it or not, and in Yggdra Union you can choose whether or not you want the various tutorials that pop up. Heck, I dunno anyone who can get through the games (Knights especially) without having the tutorial on/doing the tutorial first.

...Dammit I want an English PSP release of Phantasia now.

44.

If they did release it, you would have been lucky for them to have voiced the skits. They didn't start voicing untl DOTNW and Vesperia.

We're getting directions for our final exam. I'm half paying attention.

45

Symphonia had 'em too. And it's not like all of them are just text. Heck, I suppose you could skip the "Tips" section if ya wanna.

/pretty much any game has a tutorial

I actually like the skits without voice acting. That way I could use the characters' voices to imagine how they sound when saying the things they say.

46.

Drea has never done the Tales of Symphonia tutorial. Least she definitely didn't go it the first time she played.

What would be nice is an option of whether you want the skits voices or not. For everyone.

47

True, but is usually Tara who did all that stuff. I'll see 'bout getting the game sometime. But I usually prefer Console games over portable because you can see things better which is good if you have no glasses and looking at tiny screens hurt your eyes.

SHAMAN KING DIDN'T!

WE CAN'T COUNT!

48.

I can count!

ONE TWO FIVE THREE SEVEN TWENTY-FIVE-- /brick'd

idek.

49

Well, like I said, in Yggdra Union and Knights you don't have to do the tutorials/set them on if you don't want to. Oh and you should go play them too Tara (the Dept. Heaven series, that is).

Gah, laptop's gonna die soon ;; There aren't any three-prong outlets in this room. /has to wait for parents to bring over multi-outlet thing

50

I know~ And I'll think about getting the game~

'mma go do homework.... mebbe. Or beg to order pizza. that sounds good~
