Depends on what you want. I'm picking White for two members of my team, even though I like Black's legendary and such more (in fact, the original idea was for me to get Black, but that would mean picking something other than Doredia and Rankurusu).

Black City > White Forest in terms of music. /But yeah.

If Gray is like Platinum and doesn't have the game-specific Pokemon (where it wouldn't have Monmen/Churine, Washibon/that vulture thing, etc.), I'm trading a Monmen over to it because gdit I want an Erufuun on one team.

I got Platinum December 30, 2008 (I remember this because it was the anniversary a friend's mother died plus the day before I moved to NC). And SS sometime in September '09. And Black in early October '10.

Platinum and SS were easy to get through despite not understanding either because there were only a few differences from similar games (DP/GSC), plus I could just look on Serebii or Bulbapedia for info. Which is what I had to do for Black some of the time.
