Because something someone said in the other thread (Kinder-hookers or whatever it's called lol) sparked this memory.
Today at school, the morning announcements that most people usually tune out: "Oh yeah there's gonna be a Halloween costume contest Friday at lunch, categories are cutest scariest funniest etc. Bring your best but make sure to follow the dress code: no masks, weapons, or crossdressing."
Cue eruptions of protest among my classmates. I would have joined in were I not such a naturally quiet person. Needless to say, crossdressing has most definitely not been expressly forbidden in past copies of the dress code that have been issued (my school doesn't have a uniform, by the way, only restrictions regarding what you can/can't wear). It seems to me a needlessly arbitrary rule, and though I can partially understand where they're coming from considering the long-standing tradition of revealing clothing in drag and the tendency of mischievous teenagers to capitalize on shock/distraction value, I still feel they're pandering to a certain... group... of parents/kids who protest such activities loudly. But still - are they gonna make it illegal for a girl to wear pants to school? Come on.
So what do you think? Does your school have a ridiculous or unfair dress code? Do you think crossdressing is inappropriate in a school setting, or any setting for that matter, and why? And if you're homeschooled, sorry but you're missing out on this "fun". :P
