DS compatibility question

    alright i guess ill ask this question here, recently my little brother broke my GBA so now i have nothing to pllay my games on i was gonna save up for a GBA SP but since the DS is going to be released soon i decided to buy that instead, i know it can play GBA games but my question is can the DS still be able to trade pokemon from like Fire Red to Colleseum or am i doomed to have to buy another GBA? if anyone knows please inform me
     
    yeah ..i'm pretty sure it still can so i think theres no need to buy 2...
     
    yeah i hope i was in the middle of transfering all of pokemon from R/S to FR so i can only hope that DS can still trade between the GBA games and the Gamecube
     
    I would assume that it would be able to. It can play GBA games, so I'm sure it would be able to function as one as well as a separate console. If it has a link port, then it will be able to trade. If it has no link port, then it won't. But, I think it will. ^_^
     
    It should have a link port. I mean if it plays GBA games then people will use that to trade and stuff. But then again it does have a wireless link cable in it (like the thing you got with FR/LG). So you might be able to trade with Fire Red and Leaf Green with that (I don't think the wireless thing works with R/S).
     
    yea but every ones forgetting that the gba could play gb games but couldnt link up
     
    That was all Nintendo's fault with the link port. They purposely made it smaller so that people would buy the new GBA games that required to link up. Hopefully, they shouldn't be as stupid, as many people will still want to play Pokemon with their DS when it comes out.
     
    I actually have a link cable that will link between the larger GameBoy ports and the smaller GBA/GBC ports. It has two of each connector. Ok, it's not an official Nintendo product, but it's still possible.

    The changing port size was either due to hardware limitations, or just a pure money-making idea. As for linking DS to GBA/GB using the link cables, I hope they keep it in.
