DS vs. PSP

I think the PSP will prevail simply because of the 'cool kid' market. The kids that think that anything branded with a Playstation logo is cool and Nintendo is just for kids. I'm hoping that Nintendo's experience will give them the advantage but I think they've already blown their chances by releasing the DS too early and without a strong launch line up.

I'm sick and tired of this whole "kiddy" versus "cool people" market. IT ANGERS ME SO MUCH. ARRRRGH. Nintendo appeals to gamers of ALL AGES. Christ, this is just... stupid. Just because Nintendo's most popular games are aimed at all ages and not the dying market of older guys in their early twenties who played games when they were kids and need to go out and get jobs or something. Without companies like Nintendo, games will only appeal to older and older groups of people until we have games like "GEEZER WARS" or "ARTHRITIS: UNLEASHED". Without younger generations to play games, the gaming industry will die--

LMAO
I think that because people see that the DS has two screens, they think, "OMG! it's got two screens! It's wierd! Let's get something else instead"
People just fear change.

Personally...I think neither of the two systems are worth the buy. The hardware is nice and all, but the games on both systems aren't worth shelling out 150+ dollars for either...

But, if I was strangled down and had a gun put to my head and was told to pick one system to buy, I guess it'd be DS...just cause Nintendo often comes through with a surprise something-or-other...>_>

So you're saying that people in their early 20s shouldn't be playing videogames?

O_o

I'm not saying that that particular group shouldn't play games, I'm saying that the gaming market shouldn't be limited to them. More and more games are getting more and more mature, sacrificing fun for realism and hardcoreness.

I will only be getting the DS because I hate anything Sony plus the price is way to high for the PSP.

That's pretty much my stand on this. I;m a nintendo person and i've never owned anything else but nintendo made systems.

God...I've been saving so much money for PSP XD I'm like 2/3 of the way there XD The money that I usually recieve has stopped coming in, for some reason. In other words, I stopped getting money and I'm in desperate need of the money I should be getting. If I kept getting the money, I wouldve had more than enough to buy PSP ><

Anyways, from how I'm spazzing for money to get PSP, it's obviouse that I think it's way better than Nintendo DS. The graphics are amazing. Just about as good as PS2. Sony's done their research. They looked at every handheld game system and other game systems, to see what problems those systems had. Then they completely made sure that Sony didnt make the same mistakes the other handhelds had. But there seems to be one little problem with the PSP. The Square button is right next to the screen. The only way they could've fixed that was by either making the PSP bigger, or making the screen smaller. And Sony didnt want to do either of those, cause that would suck XD But other than the Square button problem, the PSP is perfect. And obviously, that makes is much better than the Nintendo DS

nothing is perfect
each has it's own flaws, however small the flaws may be
Even though PSP has better launch titles (might I add, Ape Escape ^^)
Nintendo is known for it's good games, less violent ones, at that. I admit, I play shooter games, but Cars, Hacking, Slashing, Shooting, and gallons of Gore is about the only thing Sony's games have to offer, whereas Nintendo has a wide variety of genres for their systems, not to mention most of the games they make are their own, instead of having third-party company help (er, something like that).

Doesn't the PSP have an abomidable battery life, and wasn't that a huge problem with other handhelds in the past?

I mean, I don't want to bash your opinion, but it doesn't sound like you have your facts straight.

Well, from what I've heard, they fixed that. So now the only problem is the Square Button

Also, I didnt say it was perfect. I clearly said there's a problem. So that makes it unperfect XD

Also, Sony doesnt only have bloody and gorey games. They have sports games, and little kids games too. Ahem. Remember they had Barbie and Rugrats XD

...Okay stupid "kiddie" games. Anybody can pick up Mario or Zelda or Metroid. I don't picture a 20something picking up Rugrats or Barbie.

And that wasn't a dis at Sony. Rugrats and Barbie games and the like are on Nintendo too.

You got a point. But what about that one game...I forgot the name of it. But you roll a ball around and try to make it bigger. It's pretty cool and it a kiddie game XD

I prefer the DS over the 'psp'.Probobly because my brother has a Ds and they seem pretty cool. But the psp i have read reviews and stuff and most people say the ds pwnz them. But who knows maybe they are wrong.*Sits and waits for PSP to come out in australia*

Haha, what mong added to my reputation with "please stfu" for this post? I'd love to know what was so unreasonable or offensive about it.

Back to the thread though: I think the launch line-ups for both systems are dire, to be honest. But it's no different to what we're used to with new console releases. I'll make an accurate judgment of both consoles once I own them and have at least 2 "big" games for both. Not because I played Wario Ware and thought da tuchscreen was teh g4yorz.

For DS? Are you sure you didnt get mixed up with PSP, cause they're releasing 3 games for the PSP

No it's true in the future Squre-Enix is releasing Final Fantasy titles on the DS I saw it at IGN.

What are the names of the Final Fantasy games? Cause it might be the ones that are for PSP. But it might not be the same.

The names havent been confirmed yet so I just know there's new Final Fantasy games coming out for the DS. ^^
