The Arsenal striker suffered an absolutely horrific injury in today's game against Birmingham City.

Eduardo suffered a horrific broken leg in the third minute of Arsenal's match against Birmingham City on 23 February 2008, after a tackle by Martin Taylor, who was sent off for the challenge. Eduardo received eight minutes of on-field treatment before being stretchered off wearing an oxygen mask. Replays available on the internet showed that the two pieces of broken bone became perpendicular to each other with his foot seemingly dangling by a thread from his leg. Commentators say this may be one of the worst injuries in English top flight football history. The injury was so graphic that Sky Sports, who were showing the game live, decided not to show replays of the incident. After being stretchered off the field, he was immediately taken to Selly Oak Hospital for further treatment. Eduardo is almost definitely going to miss the rest of the 2007–08 season and miss out on Euro 2008. Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger called for a lifetime ban of Taylor for the tackle, adding on Sky Sports: "His injury is very, very bad. More than the season is over."

The videos and the pictures of the tackle and injury look absolutely horrific. What do you think should happen to Martin Taylor, the guy who made the tackle? What is your take on the incident? If you want to see videos/pictures of it, look for them yourself. No way I want to post them here.Though I recommend to not look for them in the first place.

I think this would fare better in Other Entertainment, so I'll move it there...

I saw the tackle on Match of the Day. It looked horrible. He must have been in so much pain. I was surprised he didn't faint from it.

I think Martin Taylor should get a 5 match ban and a fine. That is all.

Some of the pictures are horrible. Like the one on the back page of the people.

I think he is predicted to be out for around 3 years. It may end his career altoghter. Hope not he is a good player.

Most of the videos on youtube have been blocked by Arsenal. there are a few that show the pictures. Which I think looks worse then seeing the tackle.

I saw it on Match of the Day too. I'm not an Arsenal fan but that was a horrific tackle by any standards. Eduardo misses Euro 2008 now.

I've heard more positive news that he could begin full rehab in 6 months and then possibly even start running again as early as 8 months from now. Think I heard that on the news.

This is quite fitting because im doing about causes of aggression and deviation in PE atm.

My view: It was a vicious tackle and should result in a permanent ban.

While I am not a big fan of Arsenal, I wish Eduardo the very best with his injury and my thoughts go with him. He is a young, talented player, and for this to end his career so prematurely would be cruel.

However, I heard on Setanta thismorning that he could make a full recovery in nine months, and could begin running again in six months. Judging by what I saw of the injury, I find that somewhat difficult to believe. Possibly the club not trying to let the fans and players worry, as Arsenal seem to be slipping in the title race.

As for Martin Taylor, it is obvious that this injury was completely accidental. I agree, 5 match ban and a fine. You could see how sorry he was when he left the pitch immediately; I only hope that he went straight to Eduardo to see how he was.

Man THAT was a big hurt. I heard in NEW that he forgive Taylor

Taylor visited Eduardo in hospital after the game. Eduardo should be back in action after Nine Months. but a tackle like that.... had to be more than just a sending off.
