My team has come along way. But in the past battles, I've seen the same reason over and over again of why I lost:

    Forretress.

I've seen that Forretress' population in teams has grown and it's become a popular pokemon. My Arcanine, which I hate, can't survive in a battle against a team that has a Forretress long enough(or any team in general =O). It's speed only reaches a maximum of 317, which can't beat the quicker pokemon like Weavile. Sadly, it's a physical attacker. That means that all useful fire type attacks cannot be used with it, like Flamethrower, Fire Blast, and much more.

Now I'm searching for a new fire type pokemon, or at least something that can learn a special fire type attack, to beat Forrestress. But sadly for this purpose, many fire types are knocked out of the competition, including Blaziken, Infernape, and Rapidash.

With that, only three pokemon are left to use. Charizard, Typhlosion, and Magmortar. Charizard is immune to ground attacks, leaving earthquake out, but has a 4x weakness to rock, and is slow. Typhlosion can't have the moveset needed to be a good pokemon. Magmortar faces earthquake, which will blow it way, including it's terrible speed.

So, what's your opinions? What pokemon do you think would be a good team member?

Please back up your information and your pick. Don't say Charizard because it's your favourite pokemon, or Typhlosion because it's name sounds cool.

Normally these sort of threads wouldn't be approved, but you need a lesson.

Every single fire-type you listed in that post outruns Forretress. I can say with certainty that an Ember from most of those Pokemon who OHKO Forretress. If you're losing to a Pokemon 4x to your STAB attack when you outrun it, there's clearly something wrong with the battler, not the Pokemon you are using. :|

If Weavile's giving you problems, your best bet is Forretress (lol). Seriously, it's most powerful STAB move is Blizzard and none of its Physical STAB has power over 90. It gets walled by Pokemon with paper thin offenses. Of all the OU offensive Pokemon, it's by far one of the most underpowered and easily countered.

If you don't want to use Arcanine, then I suggest Charizard or use a Dragonite with fire blast. I only say Charizard because it's fairly fast and most rock moves such as Rock Throw or something miss a lot. Personally though, I would go with Dragonite. It could beat that Fortress easily.

Why can't Infernape "learn a decent special Fire move?" Last time I checked, he learned Flamethrower, Fire Blast and Flare Blitz...
