Torterra is far worse. He can't survive any ice attacks, he's slow, and doesn't have anything in particular going for him. Empoleon has some usages, even if his weaknesses can be exploited sometimes. I'm sure we can all agree that Infernape's the best though.
 
Torterra has a super movepool though. And speed of 333

Max Atk/sp.atk with avalance/ice beam = Garchomp on the rocks...
 
I'm pretty sure..like TP said, if you sash it it'd get back with an ice beam anyway.

Also speed of 333?? Agiltied empo. can probably beat that with max speed ev's
 
A even if Garchomp poseses a sash as well...One Aqua jet takes care of the issue...

Honestly...Aqua jet is perhaps the best move for empo because with full atk, stab and first move...It would do a number for that desperation counter.
 
Yea but it's either aqua jet or agility and im agility>aqua jet becuz when agilitied empo. can use better moves first.
 
Saying Empoleon is the worst starter ever is kind of harsh. True, his weaknesses kill him but you could say that for any Pokemon, can't you? And with so many resistances, he's very easy to switch in.

Empoleon is a pretty decent Special Wall; just wish it had a GOOD recovery move not named 'Rest' or 'Aqua Ring'... >.<

EDIT: Why would you use Aqua Jet?! Aqua Jet is Physical and Empoleon's assets lay in its Special Attack. You're not likely to be doing much damage with it to begin with, even with STAB, unless you're running a Swords Dance version of Empoleon which...in all honesty, is novelty.
 
Meh, i detest it. Plus Im kind of having a crappy day. It is not the worst stater ever, thats probably one of teh grass ones. An I suppose you could special wall it with Stealth Rock, Roar, Aqua Jet, and Grass Knot
 
Well...Mix-poleon is a terror on wifi Curry.

Aqua Jet is merely a counter for focus sash or for som damage inflictied if you know your pokemon will die with out sneaking in a move. This moveset kills.

Empoleon @ Focus Sash
252 atk 252 sp.atk 6 hp
Hydro Pump
Shadow Claw/Avalanche
Flash Cannon
Aqua Jet.

As I said before...this covers a ton of pokemon.

EDIT: I don't beleive any of the starters are terrible....just misunderstood.....
Everyone knows how to run 4 of them...but the rest haven't been planned upon.
 
Why Flash Cannon? Besides for STAB, it doesn't really have much of a purpose, does it? Ice Beam or Grass Knot would prove more useful there, I believe.

His attack is kind of mediocre, which is why I'm a tad puzzled at the whole Aqua Jet thing and all. Usually his physical attacks won't pack as much of a punch...unless you're running Choice Band or SD.
