Infernape is way awesome. Empoleon and Torterra are ok, but I've always liked the fire starters the best.
 
I have used Infernape and Torterra, but I think I prefer Infernape over Torterra. But I'm starting with a Piplup ATM just to see what it''s like, but I personally don't like any of the Sinnoh starters.
 
Well my first game I played with Empoleon and he was pretty awesome, but there's so many water types I wanted to catch in the game I started with Turtwig as I'm not very patient with grass types unless they've been my starter :) Never used Infernape, but I'm not really a fire type lover so.. :L
 
I went with Empoleon.. generally I choose the fire starter because I think they look cool.. *and if you don't get it, it's REALLY hard to find a fire type thats good for a long time. I also have this thing with Prinnies. Not that this has to do with Pokemon, but I simply HAD to name it after my Prinny. Though te Pokedex kind of makes Piplup and co sound kind of douchey.

Ironically in the end, Chimchar was a little too squishy to my liking, and Torterra, that doopey looking turtle ended up being the poke that won the war.. err.. champion battle. Under sheer usefulness, Torterra turned out to be the better of the three.
 
I chose piplup just to trade it to a friend and get a totodile.. never traded. Kinda sad I didn't pick chimchar because tbh Infernape owns crap on competitive.. It just lols at ingame.
 
Looks wise, i cant stand the entire chimchar line so i never even bothered to choose it, empoleons alright but torterra is the best IMO.
 
Torterra, not only because *I like turtles* but because Torterra is an verry well-rounded Pokemon if you train it correctly.
At level 89, my Torterra could OHKO both a level 100 Infernape and Empoleon.

I usually ALWAYS have went with the Fire Type starter. But in this game I picked Turtwig (Torterra).

Empoleon all the way can learn ice beam and through breeding grass knot the complete oposite of its type
 
Emploen rocks all the way, and I hate Inferape because he looks hard to win with
 
Design wise Empoleon wins. I liked Torterra when he first came out, but all the pictures I see of him make him look fake and plastic. I hated Infernape at first but now he is pretty cool.

If Empoleon didn't have that retarded ground weakness, then he would be my pick for sure...he's just too hard to use with it. Some say he is the ultimate dragon killer, but unless they have choice outrage going, you'll be destroyed by earthquake. That and there are too many fighting types (not even counting electrics). There are just better steels out there (Scizor, Lucario, Magnezone, Bronzong, Metagross) and for Scizor, he looks cooler. There are also better waters (vaporeon..although he has crappy defense, Swampert, Gastrodon). He would be awesome if he had some speed, of course he has agility, but it still wont outpace much.

Torterra, he's nice with a rock polish, but too many things say hi to it.

Infernape..he's too frail for my taste, but he looks cool (hey, better than Blaziken), and there really isn't another fire pokemon that can compete with him (heatran will get destroyed). Although Infernape too is walled way too easily by anything faster, and if he doesn't OHKO, forget about him lasting.
 
The only one I've played with out of those was Empoleon, and he was pretty good! Hmmm... Infernape was pretty damn strong too, though, when I had to battle him in the Elite Four. I guess I'll have to go with Empoleon since he's the only one I've played with...

All of the starters can do that, empoleon doesn't do well with a closecombat from a infernape and torterra can't deal with any fire moves

empoleon can ko torterra with drill peck and can ko ape with any water move

My favorite has to be infernape just because the fire starters have always decimated and will continue to decimate
 
Infernape destroys everything. Best starter

Empoleon isn't the best, but it's Ok, I guess.

Torterra learns pretty good moves like Razor Leaf and Earthquake, but it's low speed evens that out.
 
I like all three pretty equally, except I chose Empoleon because Piplup was the starter I first chose while playing through Pearl. However, my sister chose Chimchar for Diamond and her Infernape is pretty awesome. When she let me borrow it to take on the Elite Four I didn't want to give it back. BUT, in my Platinum game I chose Turtwig and I am also digging Torterra because the pokemon's look is just so cool and I love using Earthquake to take out weaker opponents fast. Torterra may lack in speed more then the other two, but once it's his turn to go he rocks. Still, I chose Empoleon. ^_^
 
I've only used Empoleon, but I'm happy with him. Being part Steel-type is really useful. Second would probably be Torterra, followed by Infernape.
