[Question] [END-GAME SPOILERS] Help, I got stuck

So my son has been playing Scarlet and was getting near the end of the game. He battled Avern but lost and then instead of trying again, he continued the adventure and went and became champion. Then he went back and defeated Avern and the game got confused and said thet he needs to become champion so he is kind of stuck in the game. Is there any way around this?

Did your son defeat all of the Team Star bases and win the final confrontation associated with it?

You have to get to the end of all three routes before you can tackle the end game. So be a champion, beat avern, and finish starfall road
