That's actually not the case. If you were to use an actual assembler to assemble this, then yes, you would need to.
If you're using Sappy or my own program it shouldn't matter, because the user inputs that beforehand. And I'm assuming Lone Knight used Sappy.

As to the error itself, I can't really say why you're getting that error. It looks how it should.
Maybe you should just recreate the .s file and try assembling it again?
