Esmas' pixel art thread

I haven't been spriting much lately... And I didn't think that I was going to show this until I was finished, but I guess there's nothing else to show, so here's what I've been working on for the past few weeks...

[PokeCommunity.com] Esmas' pixel art thread

I sprited this originally so that my friends who wanted to add me into their ROM hacks or games could give me a place as a cameo, so I guess you can say that it's me. It's gone through a lot of changes. Firstly, it was red and orange, and badly sprited, while also in an older style. I revamped it, adding a few things and making it a soft shade of green, and it looks quite good. This will be the main hero in my game (and yes, I'll be using the tiles I made in it). Please comment on it, I really need it. Oh, and credits to Kyledove, obviously.
Man this is like amazing. My favorite color yaii ^^. I also like the overworlds. Would you mind making one for me ? (a).

Thanks, Jasumin. Um, sure... although I have a few other requests, so it could take a while. But I like taking requests because people give me ideas on what to sprite, and it comes out good most of the time. I still have to complete the hero sprite for Pokémon Genesis.

Your sprites are taking a no show...
What do you mean? :s You have to explain, I have no idea what you're talking about...

Hey! Not much to show right now, but I've got a little preview screenshot my game...

Can anyone guess what map this is? Credits to Kyledove!

By the way, if anyone can give me a good name for my game, then you'd be really helpful! I'm not sure what it should be (a gem, a color or something else), but I just need names. I think the hero (who is that greenish color) should be enough for a name. :P

I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say Route 1..

It looks pretty neat :]
The flowers look a tad to dark though =/

Correct! Not much of a difficult guess, but that's right. Or you could have just cheated and read the file name, "route1preview.png."

Anyway, yeah, I thought that someone would say that. I'll change it right away. ^^

Are you going to make shadows between the trees?
Yeah, I guess so... I might not, because I'm trying to follow Kyledove's style, and his tiles don't have shadows in between them. But if it makes it look better, then I'll do it.

I'd consider someone who attempts to create a style and fail much of a better spriter than someone who goes around copying someone else all the time.
At least TRY something completely new.

Well that's not really true is it, considering we're all basing our sprites and graphics on Nintendo's work anyway :/

Esmas I really like the tiles. It's good to see more people trying to extend Kyle's style and not just take his tiles as the be all and end all.

I'd rather just stay with Kyledove's style, because it looks beautiful, and there are endless ways to add to it.

And thanks for the comment, Waudby. :)

Now, normally I would agree with you on this, but (and correct me mif I'm wrong, Esmas) he is actually using them for something. He is not making them just for the heck of it (such as I am).

Anyway, they are looking good. Maybe you should try making some trees from scratch, outline and all.

Yeah, thanks, Alistair. I originally wanted my game to have Kyledove's Sinnoh tiles in it, but instead I made my own Kyledove-styled tiles.
But in some cases I'm making them just for the heck of it.

And I'll try to do that, Alistair. Thanks.

I think it's sometimes good to make things for the heck of it. it sometimes leads you to have new ideas etc.

So many people just use the standard Sinnoh tiles now so it's good to see you doing your own. Any chance we can see some more? :D

More what? Tiles from my Kanto set? If that's what you're saying, then I'm still working on something...

Yeah I'd really like to see the kanto set. I really like your tiles and pixel works, especially the overworld and trainer sprite you did :D

Hey, guys and girls! :P Here's another small screenshot of my game:

Can anyone guess where it is? I bet everyone knows...

Anyway, I still have to change the signposts, the buildings and the water.
I also just changed the flower so that it's bit brighter. Credits to Kyledove, of course!

Pallet town :O

It looks pretty good.
Do you plan on making a lab?
