If you could be more specific with your question, I'm sure we'd be able to help you out.

There are certain pokemon that boost a certain stat on your team. For instance, a Roselia can will boost your sp. att. You need four points to get a +1 in the stat. So, say starly would give you two points in the speed stat. Kill four starly's and level up and your speed would have an extra +2. You can only get a certain amount of extra points above your base stat, which is 252.

It's only a vague description as i'm not the best Ev trainer, but I hope it helps XD

It's a lot to take in at first but it's really very simple.

If you want to max out your Steelix's defense, you need to faint Pokémon that give Defense EVs. You're looking to get 252 EVs in Def, so you need to faint as many of those Pokémon in order to reach that number. There are held items and PokeRus to increase the number of EVs each Pokémon gives, meaning it would take less time to max out that stat.

When you combine this with a nature that promotes growth in Defense (Bold, Relaxed, Impish, Lax) you'll end up with higher defense than with a different nature. Ideally if you need to max out a stat, you need a nature that raises that same stat while lowering one that doesn't matter as much.
I've been thinking of making a training guide, so if you have any other questions you can always PM me.

i think one of the moderator's should lock this forum now as it's forfilled it's purpose.
Also, you posted in the wrong forum. I think pokemon general or pokemon statagies/movesets would've been suitable

Just report the thread next time please. (Seeing that's minimodding and that's against the rules). Also this be a thread not a forum. ;p Although I could lock the forum... ;p

Anyways, closed. Ask questions in the Help thread next time please. Also check out the FAQ thread sticky at the top of this section (like the Help thread!) next time (https://www.pokecommunity.com/threads/210520) - at the bottom of the first post there's a link to an EV training guide.
