Eventing question

So I have a game I'm working on. The rival is in the next town over, and he gets his Pokemon after you show off yours in his house, so he's jealous and stuff, and he storms out of his room and gets the Pokemon from the lab and then challenges you to a battle on the way back to his house. My original problem was that the game froze because a crucial switch was not on to trigger the rival in-house event, but I fixed that - however now I have a whole new problem. I added the switch, turned it on in the rival event, but now the rival sprite (still default Blue for testing purposes) is invisible, the event is still there but is not triggered.

What do I do to fix this? Someone told me I had to go back to the original switch in the lab and turn that on, but it looks like it is... so it should work. So I'm trying to figure out where the actual problem lies.

Here's a link to the event screenshot for reference:

And here's a screenshot link for the starter choice for reference:

If you're asking for help with events, you should take screenshots of your event pages.
It's not exactly easy or accurate to just imagine what you events look like, and therefore hard to diagnose

Noted! I've added the screenshots for the events in the original post. Thanks for the tip.

Of course this is happening, your rival has the switch 3 as a condition for "existing".

When you turn it off you're turning off the rival event as well.
