i always build a team that doesnt need my starter and end up replacing it with something else. does anyone else feel guilty when doing this?

I think i've always kept my starter in the teams i've built, the exceptions being when i'm taking part in a monotype challenge or doing a run with a single Pokémon.

I quite like the RBY starters, though i'll admit I wouldn't class them as the most powerful Pokémon of their types (Except maybe Venusaur, but that's not saying much. Grass sucks XDD).

I don't remember keeping my starter for RB because I found better ones, but I did keep Pikachu in Yellow because I thought he was uber!... back in the day, lol.

I always kept my Gold starter, they were freaking awesome pokemon!

Yeah lol the starters are only useful to a certain point (i.e beating the elite 4). After that, you just kinda throw 'em away once you get access to other Pokemon (National Dex in gen III and up) or a more competitive stance on the game. In Emerald I used my Blaziken (favorite starter) until I got to the Battle Frontier. Then I just used it to switch and bait while EV training, and fighting Gabby and Ty over and over while training them.

I've always felt that way lol...I don't know why i just always have felt guilty putting my starter in the box...Im not sure whyy though..

I don't see how you can feel guilty. Oh well. I always kept my starter, this is because I always like the starters. If I didn't I would trash them.

I never used to abandon my starter, but I've since found that it makes one's adventure more interesting not to have it in their party.

Why would you replace Charizard, he is really good
"For a challenge" is the first retort to enter my head.

I only really replaced the Gold/Silver starters. They were terrible starters.
Cyndaquil had a terrible move pool. Terrible = WTF WERE THEY THINKING.
Totodile was a physical water type, suffering from "Gyarados syndrome" ..means having a special STAB but having terrible Special attack. (or visa versa, Flareon falls under this catagory)
Chikorita was a defensive pokemon but sadly was Grass type. Hello, Gamefreak, Grass type have 5 weaknesses! It's not a very defensive pokemon with 5 weaknesses!

my Blastoise will never be replaced.

I feel really weird if I get rid of it, so I keep it with me at all times.
