Evolutions: Nostalgia purposes only, or actually a viable set?

I'm hearing a lot of local players in my area constantly talking trash about the Evolutions set, stating how none of it's cards are viable in actual gameplay especially tournaments. I've yet to sit down and look at all of the cards in it myself, however I'm wondering what you guys all think of it.

For someone like myself who's mostly just looking to get good, playable decks built right now. Would an Evolutions Elite Trainer Box/Booster Box be worth it or are previous sets still outshining Evolutions in terms of usability?

Evolutions is a fun set with a few viable cards. It's no Steam Siege or Roaring Skies, but still good. Mewtwo works in any deck that runs DCEs, Baedrill might see play, Ninetales BREAK will likely be great in Expanded with Burning Energy and Blacksmith.
