Experiments [PG-13]

Luphen shrugged his shoulders and said,"Drake, I wanna fight you at your full strength so I will let you go for now. Next time I see though I will freeze you to death!" Then he turned the ice clones in to little dolls and walked off.

As he walked of he whispered lowly,"I will trust you and will protect you, Aura. As long as you are helping me, but if you interfere in me and his fight I know whose side your really on." Then he jumped on his board and flew off.

Drake listened as Aura answered Luphen, and Luphen took off. The more he was around this girl, the more he didn't understand her. Drake had been generally good at making out people, but this one was a different story. He looked at her blankly for a few seconds. He didn't know exactly what to say to her at first. He finally spoke after a while of silence.

"I had things under control inside the diner. You didn't have to interefere."

Oddly enough, Aura smiled and shook her head. "I couldn't watch you get hurt. I don't know why, but I couldn't. I got mad, and I blew up. I'll try to stay out of your battles. But no promises." she said, calming herself down.

Drake looked at her for a while, not saying anything. Couldn't watch me get hurt? If Drake was confused before, he was even more so now. Drake watched as she smiled. He forced down a smile once more, not willing to show it.

Without another word, he began walking one direction. I have to get focused. He took out his paper and began making new notes from what he learned in the battle with Eric and the small engagement with Luphen.

He took one more look back at her, making sure she was following. He quickly turned around and gave a small grin to himself, but quickly got rid of it.

Aura followed him, walking slowly, losing herself in thought. She's confused herself enough over the past two days. She wasn't understanding herself, much less this crazy world around her. She remembered something about being back home. The reason she never had any friends, was because no one wanted to hang out with her, she had a reputation. She thought maybe, if she was around someone who wasn't always pushing her away, then maybe she wouldn't be so lonely.

Then why didn't I go with Luphen. she shook her head. She didn't need to think about it. Her choice was made. She was staying with Drake, end of discussion.

She looked up and noticed that he was a little ways ahead of her. She must have fallen back while she was thinking. So, she sped up, so she wasn't so far behind, and fell into step behind him. She didn't say a word.

Luphen went home and went back to training."I don't know what plans Aura has or what she is supposedly saving me from, but if she goes against me while I'm killing Drake. Well I guess she is just gonna have to die, too." He thought as he trained."I wonder how flame boy is doing? I gotta kill that psycho fool, too. Then everybody else just will have to fall in place."

Eric decided to leave the bag there, as going back to dine diner after the battle would pass stupid and keep on going. He started thinking about his powers, the electric kid, Aura's betrayal and everything.

"Oh! Drats!" he exclaimed.

I should have made both of them choke. That way, she wouldn't have hit me and both of them would be weakened...Okay, I have to stop being so rash...I know I had no time to think, but I have to think things through...Planning is the key to any battle.

Then he got up and walked towards his house, trying to avoid the diner.

Time to pay Mommy and Daddy another visit... he said to himself and chuckled.

(OOC: Going to sleep, g'night!)

Drake was walking silently for a while until he decided to explain his plan to her. She was with him now, and he needed her to know what was going on.

He walked a little slower until he was right next to her. Drake then looked up at her from his paper and spoke,

"I am going to target all people with powers, both Experiments and Materials. As I said before, the Luphen boy will be saved for last, and then..." He trailed off for a second, before continuing. Once I actually begin hunting every one of them seperately, I will require you to be my ears. You have to tell me all the details, so I can be ready for ambushes, reinforcements, etc. I came up with the tactic of using that a while back. You're invisiblity can also prove useful in scouting, eavesdropiing, and other sneaky tactics. I have the advantage of the Materials not knowing I'm going for them as well. Do you understand all of that?"

He looked at her, taking in her appearance for the first time since he met her. This was the first time he looked into her eyes when he spoke to her.

"Understood." she said, smiling. She wasn't sure why she was smiling, she just felt like doing it. She huffed as her hair fell in her face again. She huffed and pulled a ponytail out of her pocket. She pulled her hair back and put it up. "I swear." she mumbled to herself. Then she looked back up at Drake. "Sorry. Anything else you want to add?" she asked.

Drake looked on as she pulled her hair into a ponytail. He was unsure why she was smiling, but couldn't help but continue to look at her. He suddenly realized that he was staring for probably too long and looked away, pretending to check out some of the sites around.

"No, that's all." Drake seemed to kind of...like the girl. He cursed under his breath, unable to understand why.

"We will begin our hunt tomorrow. I need you and myself at top form. For now, we should find a place to rest a bit."

Luphen trained all night long and didn't get in bed til 4 in the morning. He pondered one last thought before he went to sleep."Maybe I shouldn't trust her. I mean damn trust is what got me screwed in the first place. Yeah, that right trusting my parents is what got me screwed and I can't take a chance of her helping Drake and me dying, too. So I guess its settled she gets buried in ice right along with Drake."

He then made little katanas in his hand swirling in a circle."Everybody who has anything to do with The Corp shall meet a nice frozen death."

Aura heard him curse and raised her brow. She shrugged it off and stretched her arms above her head.

"You're right. We probably need some rest." Aura let out a low breath. She clenched at her chest. Her heart was acting up again, and she still had no idea why. She tried to shake it off, it would stop sooner or later. She shook her head, no need to worry or complain about it. It wasn't of anyone's concern, so she kept quiet.

Drake examined some of the houses closeby, and asked her, Sleeping in an inn or hotel is out of the question. Which one of these houses are empty?"

Drake was sure that someone will attempt to attack if they go to a motel or inn. If they rested at some random house, theres no way they could get spotted.

Aura had already been listening, and she stopped, turning to her right. "That ones empty." she stated. She rubbed her eyes and yawned, she was beginning to become sleepy. She remembered she hadn't gotten more than an hour of sleep the night before, too busy worrying. She scoffed. She couldn't sleep last night because she was afraid of Drake finding them, and here she was, twenty four hours later, trying to figure out where to sleep, with the very person she had been scared of the day before.

Drake was impressed with her quickness of finding a house. He said nothing, though, as he climbed the fence of the house. He proceeded to walk towards the back and find an entrance. He spotted a back door, which he broke into after a few attempts. The house was dark but roomy, a lot of furniture missing and the ones that remained was torn up. For Drake, it will do.

Drake observed to see that Aura made her way into the house as well before closing the door behind them. There were a few old mattresses and a dirty couch.

Drake motioned her to them, "Go...get some rest." He didn't move as he urged her there.

Aura crossed her arms and smiled. "The odds of me actually falling asleep for more than an hour are slim to none. You better get some sleep yourself." she told him, her eyes wandering the house. She walked around the room, but didn't really stop anywhere. She pulled her MP3 player out of her backpack, and put the ear buds in her ears again. She had it on low, so she could hear him if needed. She walked back over to where Drake was and sat on the ground, leaning her head against the wall.

Drake watched as she moved around the room. He realized he was pretty tired himself, not actually sleeping since a while back. He however didn't know if he could trust her if he should fall asleep right out. He had always been pretty distrusting. He simple sat a bit of a distance away, resting his head. Making occasional glances in her direction, but avoided looking at her too long. The fact of the matter is that Drake has never met anyone quite like her, and he was interested in her habits and mannerisms. He just couldn't quite grasp her. Drake let out a sigh. He decided to look over the other Materials and Experiments on his hit list. He looked over all of them. There was the Material who had firepower, as well as the Ice/Wind Experiment Luphen. Then there was the Eric boy, the one who could run at superspeed and have some sort of psychic energy. There was also other she mentioned on the list. Then there was her. She had super hearing, and can turn invisible. Her name was Aura. "A good name..." He had accidently said that out loud.

Aura shifted, sending her gaze up. "Hm?" she asked. She'd heard him say something, but she wasn't quite sure what is was. Her eyes began to feel heavy, so she rubbed them. Quite honestly, she didn't want to go to sleep. She moved so her back was to the wall, and she pulled her knees up to her chest. She rested her chin on her knees and listened to her music.

Drake said nothing. He was slipping up too much on this mission. He had to remember why he was here. He was to eliminate the Experiments, and, as a bonus mission he had added himself, eliminate the Materials as well. His logic dictated that the Corp would prefer not having maniacs like that fireball Material running around anyways, and would do them the favor of eliminating him. In the end, he would be the only one with any power. Drake leaned back against the wall and rested.

Aura stood, sighing. She turned her music off and stuck it in her backpack, which she left on the ground. She walked forward for a minute, observing her surroundings. After a moment, she grinned, and spun around, landing on the ground by a slip of her foot. And suddenly, she burst out laughing. Trying to stifle her laughter, she bit down on her lip, not being able to stop the smile that spread across her face though. She turned her head to face Drake and watched him for a moment. She didn't speak, just watched, observing him.
