Experiments [PG-13]

Aura listened as he spoke and nodded her head. She stretched her arms above her head and slung her bag over her shoulder. She put her hands on her hips and smiled.

"I'm ready whenever you are." she decided it'd be best to push the nightmare back again. No need to worry about it all day, she had a job to do.

She pulled her hat back down over her eyes, which she realized she did a lot. That was the whole reason she bought the hat, to avoid people. Kids at school would stare at her, whispering amongst themselves, so she bought the hat so she wouldn't see them, and so they wouldn't see her.

It's a precaution. she told herself, keep yourself distant, and you won't get hurt.

Drake saw she was ready, and so was he. He proceeded out the back door, thinking it would be a better exit.

The first thing we need to do is locate the other Materials, he thought to himself. He took a quick look around town with his eyes, but figured things would be better felt by someone who might be able to hear them. Drake turned to Aura. He looked at her expectedly. He had placed a lot of the load in her hands, but from what he had seen so far, he would not be disappointed.

Aura closed her eyes and listened. She decided to start listening for the people she knew, Eric and Luphen. She faintly heard them both, but couldn't pinpoint their exact locations.

"Eric and Luphen are both still in the city, I think." Aura rubbed her head. She was still a bit disoriented, despite how long she'd been awake. Dang it, I need to try harder. She listened again, but still couldn't figure out exactly where in the city they were. "Damn." she mumbled under her breath, this was really beginning to irritate her.

Then another sound hit her ears, and she listened. There were people walking, a little while away, pretty close, and coming towards the town. She furrowed her brows. She focused on who they were.

"Jeremy, he's one of you guys, he's coming towards the town, he's got two others with him." she gave it some thought, trying to see if she could make out who the others were. "I'm not sure who they are. Wait I think I know who one of them is." she stopped immediately. She knew who one of the people were, aside from Jeremy. The fire kid. "Damn." she said, this time a little louder.

Drake listened as she attempted to find who they needed. He saw it took concentration, and was a difficult thing to do, especially in a crowded place. Jeremy was on of the Materials, this he believed was true. The other two must be other Materials. He decided that that is where he needed to go.

"We will go there. However, when we approach, you must hide a little bit away." He reached something from his pocket. It was a transmitter, two of them. "Once I am speaking to them, you will monitor me from afar. I want t be sure no one interrupts us while we are talking, especially Experiments. Some of them saw you with me."

He then added, "Do you know which two the others are?"

Aura cursed again. That was the last person she wanted to see, but she didn't really have a choice.

"The fire boy. He's with them. I don't know who the other one is. I know it's a girl though, I can tell by how she walks." thinking about the fire kid made her want to run in the other direction.

Quit being such a baby! It's just fire. she told herself this to calm down, she breathed in and out, hoping it would help. Don't be so high strung, he's not going to hurt you. Though she said that, she wasn't positive he wouldn't.

Jeremy glanced at Jack, then to Caresse. He sighed, his hands in his pockets. "We're about ten minutes away from the city. Then we can rest." he sighed again, he needed to rest. It seemed as if they others did too, and he didn't blame them. So he continued walking, they'd be there soon enough.

Drake knew who they were. The fire boy was the lazy, reckless Material. The woman must have been the other one. He knew only one of their powers, and he needed to find out all of them before the day was done. Drake looked at her, and then remembered something.

"Remember, I made a deal with you that I will keep the Flame Material away from you. Don't worry about him. Lead the way. Let me know when we are close."

Aura nodded and started walking. She turned her music up again slightly. She wanted to make sure she could still hear the footsteps, and Drake, perfectly clear, but she needed a distraction. Even though Drake promised to keep the fire kid away from her, that didn't make her any less scared. She couldn't help it. Fire was her biggest fear, she wouldn't be able to defend herself if the kid attacked her. She would freeze again.

She turned her head back slightly. "Thanks Drake." she said quietly, then turned back so she could see in front of her.

"I've never been here honestly. I grew up in a town a while away. I had one friend most of my life. I mean, I had plenty of friends, but only one who defended me, and made sure I was okay. Because I was always so polite, kids liked to pick on me through most of elementry and middle school, but she kicked anyone's butt who even spoke one unkind word to me." he stopped, realizing he'd said more than he meant to. "Sorry." he told them.

Drake walked silently behind her, not responding to her thanks. He needed to focus now more than ever. He had to be sure about every move this time. If he messes up, he'll end up dead. He looked around constantly, making sure they weren't being followed. Although he was sure Aura was monitoring that anyways, he had to be sure. He had to be ready.

Aura could feel the three of them now. They were getting close, very close. She listened to their footsteps as they got closer. She took in a breath and paid attention to her music, she knew she didn't to focus, but the more she thought about the group, the more scared she got. So she stopped listening, for just a minute, just to calm her down, just to get her mind back in place.

After a minute, she knew she needed to re-register their footsteps in her brain. She listened for them, and as soon as she did, she stopped walking. She clenched her fists at her side and shut her eyes tight.

"Too close." she said softly, keeping her eyes closed. They were too close, they would be able to see them soon, and she couldn't stand it. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry Drake, I can't get any closer to him. I can't."

Eric was at his house. He had stayed up all night looking up for information to defeat that Corp guy.

"Hmmm...Interesting..." Eric said as he looked at a file on his laptop. His parents were lying unconscious on the floor. "I just need to use this to my advantage...and shut down that electric kid!" he said and giggled at his pun. "...But anyway, if I'm gonna take those 2 down, I'm going to need some backup. That kid who travelled with Aura must be hurt because of what she did...I could use that to my advantage. But not yet, I'll arm myself first."

I'm gonna need a bulletproof vest, just in case he tries to shoot me, and a rubber suit. That way, his sparks won't do anything to me. And just so he doesn't notice, I'll wear my usual clothes on them. But where am I going to get those things?

Drake saw that she was genuinely scared. They were close.

"Here take the transmitter and hide! I will approach them by myself. Quickly!"

Drake saw them in a distance away, and began walking up to them slowly. It was situations like these that needed goodwill, something Drake didn't posses. Nevertheless, he would try. He waved a hand at them. Walking towards them slowly.

Aura nodded and did as told. Just as an added precaution, she turned her invisibility on, and got as far away from the kid as she could, but close enough so she could still hear them and still see Drake. She leaned against one of the trees. They couldn't see her, but she couldn't be positive that they couldn't feel her. She didn't know all of their powers, so she couldn't be for certain that her invisibility would be effective, but as long as the fire kid couldn't see her, she'd be alright.

Caresse looked up as a boy waved at them. She figured he was one of the materials and deemed him as safe watching as he drew closer.

(sorry for the short posts on my ps3 since i'm not grounded from that )

Jeremy noticed the guy walking towards them. He was the first one to break off from the group when they'd been sent out to capture the Expirements. He watched him carefully. They were allies. But he didn't know anything about any of them, aside from Jack and Caresse. As they came near the approaching person, Jeremy felt something. He'd heard something, but he wasn't sure what it was. So she just shrugged it off, probably nothing anyway.

Eric kept thinking about where to get the isolating suit. And the bulletproof vest.

Drats. Where can one get those things easily? I could steal them within seconds.

He kept on thinking. He REALLY needed those things.

Think, Eric, think! Oh! I got it! I'll go get the bulletproof vest first. I know just the place to get it.

He chuckled and got up, walking out of his house. He looked at his unconscious parents on the floor. "I'll be right back. Don't move an inch" he said to them as he laughed quietly and evilly and dashed the hell out of there.

Drake came up to the three Materials. He had recognized them from walking with them a few days ago. The Fire Material was there, as was the one called Jeremy. He knew he had the power to sense when someone's lying, so he had to choose his words VERY carefully when he was with him. He also had Echolocation. Drake's gaze fell upon the other Material, a girl. He didn't know any of her powers..yet.

"How have you been?" He asked the three. He needed to seem sincere, so he tried his best. "I've run into a few Experiments in town already. I believe some of them used to live here. We need to develop a strategy against them."

Jeremy watched his behavior. He wasn't lying. That was a good sign.

"Which Expirements have you seen?" he only knew one Expirement, so he needed more information on the others, as well as finding that one Expirements location.
