    Yo, I posted this on smogon but I haven't gotten any replies, can people who are familiar with balancing out Fakemons help me out here?

    I'm working on a fangame for people who are visually impaired and one of the characters I added is the game's mascot, a special farfetch'd with 1) usable stats and 2) freaking sunglasses and a cane (yes, fans of the game find it hilarious and love it). A lot of the people interested in the game like the guy and are interested in using him competitively. So I was wondering about the balanced nature of the character, suggestions for making him more competitively effective but still evened out, since later a competitive component online will be added. Here's a couple of requirements that need to be laid out before we go too much further:

    -The game uses stat calculations from Gen V for most things. This includes things like STAB, IVs, EVs, natures, ect.
    -The movepool available is identical to the G/S/C movepool, bar one added move, which is this character's signature move.
    -Currently every Pokemon up to G/S/C is programmed into the game, and no more will be added until a first "final" version is released.
    -This game implements the Special/Physical split and is identical to future games in allocation.

    I can't think of anything on the top of my head that's anything different, but I'll add them later.

    I'm sort of aiming for Low OU at absolute highest sort of deal with him. Metagame practices and standards haven't really been worked out yet, so actually tiering him will be difficult, but bear with me here.

    #083 Farfetch'd (Blind Duck Version)

    [PokeCommunity.com] Fakemon Balancing Help

    Type: Normal/Flying

    Audio Description: "A brown duck with a yellow check mark on its head. It has sunglases and a cane. It carries the cane with its broad wings. Its probably blind, but its still pretty fearsome nonetheless."

    Base Stats:
    HP = 102
    Attack = 95
    Defense = 85
    Special Attack = 58
    Special Defense = 95
    Speed = 95

    Movepool:
    Peck
    Sand-Attack
    Leer
    Slam
    Swords Dance
    Agility
    Future Sight
    Slash
    Baton Pass
    False Swipe
    Reversal
    Toxic
    Substitute
    Hidden Power
    Sunny Day
    Hyper Beam
    Protect
    Rain Dance
    Endure
    Frustration
    Return
    Dig
    Mud-Slap
    Double Team (it's in his movepool but crossed out for obvious reasons)
    Swagger
    Sleep Talk
    Swords Dance
    Razor Wind
    Rest
    Attract
    Thief
    Steel Wing
    Fury Cutter
    Cut
    Fly
    Rock Smash
    Cane Smash (Normal Type move, physical, 90 base power, 100 base accuracy, 10% chance of flinch, 10% chance of critical hit)

    Personally I think his coverage really sucks right now. Any suggestions for this blind duck?

    Abilities:
    Hustle
    Unaware (Hidden)

    Notes:
    -Blind Farfetch'd doesn't have any breeding moves. Attempting to breed him results in a regular farfetch'd.
    -Blind Farfetch'd is always male.
    EDIT: He has a custom item "white cane" that doubles his attack like Bone Club.

    Thanks in advance! I'm not as well knowledgable into this stuff so I really appreciate every piece of help I can get.

    Don't know much about metagame tiers, but here's some food for thought.

    Night Slash and Psycho Cut for better type coverage.

    Take points out of Sp. Atk and put into either Spe or Atk.

    Consider reducing defenses generally (HP, Def, Sp. Def) in favor of Atk and Spe. If you try to make him both a tank and a heavy hitter, he probably won't do as well at either. The downside is that he will be more fragile, which can be tough for novice players to deal with in-game.

    You can talk all you want about game balance like this, but at the end of the day, you're going to have to just test it and iterate upon those tests; Pokemon is a delicate ecosystem of hidden numbers and stats, and there are just too many variables to throw a stat sheet online and ask "is this balanced?" (And just for a quick aside, you won't get good info from Smogon - they claim to be good designers when really their talents lie in play testing.)

    That said, Tek's suggestions are all pretty good - with a possible 190 ATK from just holding the White Cane, I'd make it a little more fragile, but this is a bit of a nebulous suggestion because I don't know how it'll interact with other Pokemon in-game.
