One element commonly implemented, or atleast promised, by most Poke-fangame developers are Fakemon. Now, I was wondering, do you think that Fakemon are a good idea, or a poor waste of time?
For those of you that don't know, Fakemon are Fake-Pokemon (hence the name Fakemon). They are fan-made drawing, sprites, pixel-arts, etc. of possible Pokemon that game developers implement in their games to give the sense that their game is a 'Next Generation' sort-of-thing.
My personal opinion is that Fakemon are somewhat of an essential part of a Poke-fangame, if done properly. I look at any game developement topic that has Fakemon solely for the purpose of seeing what Fakemon are being included because I gather ideas from that, but that's just me. Game without a Fakemon element don't particularly interest me because I look at Poke-fangames as a way for fans to come up with the next generation of Pokemon in their own way, including new Pokemon (Fakemon).
Anyways, that's what I think, let me know what you think.
