Tabs should work. You just need to set your Message Editor Interface to basic or standard editor, but not enchanced. It's no excuse if your story will not copy and paste directly, because how come everyone else found a way to get out of that problem? Also, the indent isn't that important at all. Block format is what hurts the most. You must have a blank line between paragraphs or else the eyes will seriously burn for a couple of days.

But Breezy, the problem is that GameGuy said that the story is done in Word, so therefore it should behave like all the other word documents...

If it's going to be either a comic or cartoon transferred to words, then most of the time it should turn out to be a scriptfic. And, since you're studying Romeo and Juliet, I'm very sure that you already know what the proper format for scripts are.

As you've said, you've been taught proper storywriting. Try to recall the lesson about how to write the title, especially the rule about no 1337/alternative spelling... (note: Comedic story's title can use it, but there's still unwritten laws about how to use them. Comedic story's title has its own laws on how to tell the readers that it's a comedy, so the readers will understand the reason why the title is either spelt wrong, or why it uses alternative spelling.)

Either way, the main problem is the absurd amount of dialogues. Most of them are irrelevant/redundant too... It's an automatic repel aura against readers if they see that the fanfic is composed of both narratives and dialogues, yet every paragraph starts with a dialogue and is no longer than 2 lines long on average.
Actually, it's kinda blah. There's another play in my language arts books by Stephen King called Sorry, Right Number, and I like the way he wrote that screenplay better than R&J.

And, believe it or not, the three main characters (except Link) are all based on real people. I can get their voices done using a screenplay to do a cartoon or something. Now, I just need some really good foley sound effects. I'm still a little good at manga, not like "comic" quality, but enough to do storyboards.

Oh, and one more thing: Gamz is a name I got a long time ago for it. I've been cooking this franchise up since March, maybe earlier. Unless you have a better name for it, that's what I've always used.

So what if you suck, recruit someone. May not be an easy task, finding someone willing to do something that's completely volunteer work, but that's why you gotta make an effort. That's what I intend to do. One place I'd recommend is searching around Deviant Art, since several of the people there are extremely good manga artists. It really helps to know that an artist you spot isn't busy with their own projects (several Deviants are working on some kind of series), and it also helps if you know they have an interest in Pokemon. Make sure to be on the look-out for such artists. And if you don't intend to recruit, just practice, you may hone your own skills over time. The same applies to Flash movies just as much as manga.

In any case, make sure you have your story in its final draft before you try drawing anything (posting the script as a fanfic's a good way to get comments, like what I'm doing right now). Typing words is very, very easy, but drawing isn't something you'd want to redo if you were to change your mind on anything. With that in mind, you may not want to recruit an illustrater until after you get the story finalized. You wouldn't want to put your artist on hold for an indefinite amount of time, now would you? Follow these tips, and you may be able to produce something pretty good.
Thanks for the advice, but there's a problem with your logic:
Flash is WAY too complicated for me. I'm just a n00b like that.

But about the draft thing: it's evolved a long time since I started more than half a year ago. At first, they all had different costumes. Adam, for example, wore glasses. At the time, the plot was riding a tram like in the Gateway Arch. But not everyone could go with that. After working on some chronicles after their arrival, I've come to let them mature a little. So now, here I am, with a head full of ideas, and no talent to share them with. But I think I'll try the screenplay and see how it goes.

There's something called Edit button. Use it wisely.

hey, question. Why is "Fanfiction Award - July" still listed under "similar threads"?

No one knows o.o;

And I don't have Word o.o; Usually I just write my fanfics in the PC box~ my grammar and spelling are usually good enough that I don't need a processor. But it's still a bad habit; I know. XD

But I prefer to write in Notepad o.o; No clue why~ So that doesn't spellcheck my work either <_<;

I've been working on a script fic version of it, and it's starting to look a little better. If you want to see what I have so far, PM me. Maybe it'd be better if I had it proofread before I published it.

Anyways, about that Gamz thing, I'm still open to new title ideas. If you want me to stick with it, here's the old logo for it.

I'm starting to get tired of it. I kinda want to come up with a better version of it, but I'm not creative enough.

If I may quote myself from my Pokesho translation thread (which can be seen here)....

I added two new translations, Wave-Riding and Bad Umpire, which you'll be able to see at the bottom of the "Movies and Other 4koma" post. BTW, if there's demand for any particular comic on Pokesho, I can translate it before anything else. Just letting everyone know, 'cause at the moment, I seem to be working on these projects somewhat randomly.

=\ What do you suppose makes a fic "popular?" No. What makes an author "popular?" I've been debating it at the green forum lately. It's left me a bit confuddled haha.
It depends... if it's popularity like *coughSpoony-chancough* where the people encourage a mediocre fic and calling it "10000/10 t3h b3st fic ev4444!!! j00 r t3h r0x0rz!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :nervous: :nervous: :P :P :P ", then it's not a really good fic.

You can't really try to woo an audience like in these forums where they mostly like stereotyped anime-ish fanfics with abhorent writing. They actually get bored with our stuff... >>;; I mean, come on. My recent fic was mediocre but only like 2 people replied to it whereas compaerd to the fic of some certain authors that are about a sentence long and get comments like the one mentioned above. But yeah...

I'll probably make a rule to make the readers criticize or comment better than whatever that is posted above...

The way in which a 'fic becomes popular depends. There are two main ways: through quality of workmanship and through the process of acquiring and making good upon social connections within the reviewing community.

Naturally, some 'fics become popular simply because they well-written or otherwise appeal to a majority of the forum population. They tend to accrue devoted readers who regularly recommend the 'fic to other friends, widening the reviewer base further. In addition, in the forum community, these people will bump the popular author's fanfiction thread, often causing it to "float" the forums and remain near the top of the thread queue, attracting the attention of other readers.

In addition, an author may become popular by forming connections with forum members. Simply, people are more likely to support their friends and acquaintances than they are random strangers. Many popular authors becoe friends with a wide range of the forum community, who out of devotion review, promote, and generally keep their 'fic prominently in the public mind. This popularity is generally not gained consciously by the author with the intent of becoming popular, but this form of popularity can easily be accumulated through simple practices on the forum, making it easier to gain than that through excellence of 'fic.

I guess you could say this: paragraph one is a 'fic becoming popular. Paragraph two is the author becoming popular and having their 'fic stroked as a result.

It certainly isn't through work quality. My work, as shocked as many of you probably are about it (since I am as well), the fic of the month, and has this curse no matter where I go. It is rather unnoticed. I don't have the many readers waitng on beck and foot.

In short, yes, popularity has something to do with it... and while a brand new work is always bound to draw a few curious readers, they usually go away fast, and leave you very, very alone. Yup, all alone.

I disagree. Firstly, excellence is important in order to attract readers. Yes, mediocre fanfiction can garner many readers through the popularity of the author. Crap fiction, on the other hand, has difficulty attracting serious attention even if the author is the most popular person on the forum. It'll probably get a lot of squeeing reviews, but most serious writers will stay away from it.

In addition, if someone likes your 'fic enough, they will come back. Regardless if you're the kid that absolutely nobody knows about, they will return because they enjoy your writing. If your work garners interest in the beginning, the only reason people will not come back is that they did not like your first chapter, meaning that they were unimpressed in some way. Every 'fic loses readers after the first chapter, regardless of how popular the author is--simply, every 'fic does not appeal to everyone, so some people who look at it are going to leave and not come back. However, a few will return if your work is good enough, and will continue returning, unless they begin to dislike the story for some reason.

I also encourage you to realize the difference between readers and reviewers. If people like your 'fic, they will follow it (normally, this means that it is at least okay). This does not mean that they are going to review it. Just because you see few reviews does not mean that you have few readers.

Hullo! I haven't been ficcing in so long!

I have so much to do -_-'

Here's my question: Does anyone know of a truly good-quality morph/hybrid fic anywhere? Is it possible for that type of thing to exist?

I don't know any. I am not a fan of that types of fanfic ^^; can't hep you there

Welcome back though, Act ;p

don't know any morphs/hybrid fics.... however, if you enjoy ecchi comedy, I can link you to a Japanese web comic in which the Pokemon are (mostly female) cosplayers. I use the term "cosplayers" because nearly all of them actually do look like humans in a Pokemon-based costume as opposed to a mutated human-Pokemon thing.

Sato x Pika

And here's another link that features Pokemon cosplayers. There's no set storyline for this, though, as it features one-panel gags of humanistic Pokemon using an attack in the games.

Pocket Monsters: Phantom Black

Be warned. Like I said, these are ecchi comedies, so you can expect a lot of sexual content. Nothing graphic.... though, there are a couple things that would leave an impression. Some of the girls having raw egg or acid dripping from their mouth seem pretty suggestive, and there is a picture of a Miltank cosplayer pulling down her shirt and wiping her mouth after using Milk Drink.

If there's enough interest, I may consider translating these alongside my current Pokesho projects.

What format is most preferred? Shadow and I are quite used to our broken script format (which nobody seems to care about). I write better prose for real life things (and autobiographies) than Pok?mon fics. Anyone else suffer? XD

That's a sample of my writing. Care to criticise it? XD

Scriptfic isn't preferred not because that prose is bad, but just that it's typically very hard to do it well. Following the correct format itself is hard enough. It's preferred to be in the ordinary "story format" if it's for an adventure story (according to your quoted text, that's what it seems to be like.) However, selecting a different and original prose is one area for creativity, so it's not always the best to follow everyone else.

Remember that within a prose, you need to choose between the different narrative manner too! Out of the 5 elements of writing, narrative manner is actually regarded as the hardest to do a good job at, even harder than theme. There's a very likely chance that the narrative you selected is not the best one, and it's very tempting for authors to switch between narrative manners, something that is to be avoided in most situations. In general, most Pokemon adventure stories are 3rd Person Limited Omniscient. Both the Pokemon anime and the Pokespecial manga also uses this narrative manner.

As for the writing...

-use a semicolon after crowd

-"for one stage in my life" doesn't really fit anywhere... I'll cut it out

-"Standing in the Hall of Fame of the Evergrande City Conference" is probably better off being a standalone, incomplete paragraph, but this will probably depend on what's before and what's after this excerpt of the text

-the clouds do not make sense in this paragraph, because it contradicts with the crowd's cheering... White clouds in a clear day suggest being aloof, relaxed, calm, a little dreamy and the slow passage of time. This completely clashes with the feeling of being proud, strong, successful and authoritative from winning the Hoenn league. Mentioning the sun will be much better instead of the clouds. Be sure to consider the connotation of every word next time.

-the phrase "highest pitch" does not work for a roar... a high pitch will be like a soprano, while a roar emphasizes on a lower voice that is thick and strong. "Highest pitch" from a Raikou will be like, squeaking... You probably want to use another adjective there instead.

Hope this helps ^^;

Fwee, welcome back, Act!

If it's pok?morphs you're after, I'm afraid good 'fics are hard to find. I've only ever read two, really, both of which you're familiar with (Ice and Both and Neither). However, if you're feeling adventurous, Pink Parka Girl runs a C2 dedicated to high-quality morph 'fic. I picked two titles at random out of there, and one was quite good and the other rather meh, so you'll have to make the call yourself on what it's got in there. Probably your best bet, though.

Sometimes I wonder what kind of members go to Other Writing... it kind of scares me... >>

But yeah... a full day and still no reviews in my revised story... or at least cmoments...
