Oh, that explains a lot.[/sarcasm]

It does, actually. I mean, who would want a hobby that's just like regular, tough work. I'm not trying to justify how they respond to criticism, just explaining it.

??? is there something wrong with my post im not sure if your commenting on my post being terrible or not :( sorry that i dont know i just wanted to check

No! No one was commenting about your post except with the name suggestions. Mine was Julie-Mudkip.

Whoops, many apologies, I did not intend for that to reach the screen. I am listening to the radio as I type, and, yeah.

Naw, we're not mad at your post... Yet. lol ;D

And I second B-5's suggestion, Julie-Mudkip sounds like the best one.

O____O Are you /kidding/ me?

Maybe you shouldn't judge reviewers until you see the true extent of the crap we have to put up with.

I'm sorry, but this made me laugh. The crap YOU put up with? Oh poor little thing, you have to sit there and read Pokemon fiction. I hardly ever review, because when a story is really badly written, I just quit reading it. Why torment yourself just to PWN someone with a harsh review? Unless they ask you to beta read, then yeah, it can be painful. But seriously, you make sitting at a computer and reading a story sound like it's an actual job. Which it's not.

One reviews for the sake of improving other people's writing, also your own... besides that, I don't see a point of reviewing. I don't see how it's fun at all, but then fanfic reviewing is what saved my english mark for the last year even though the english teacher is completely terrible... It's hard for reviewing to be fun unless you're reviewing something for someone who you know (or at least, is acquainted with) ^^;

"Infodump" isn't the very best way to teach, but then I'm not a professional teacher who's paid to teach, nor am I given the time to type up these type of stuff. Of course it's much more ideal to spend a week or so on how to analysis stuff like an actual teacher, but as if anyone of us will find the time to do these type of stuff. The fastest way to get the point across is the infodump, and personally I don't mind it at all as long as the info isn't totally wrong/ on the wrong track.

As for "chatspeak" it's not actually within the fanfic itself, and afterall we are on the net... I don't see what's wrong with it unless it's getting into an argument, where the situation isn't just "informal" anymore.

No one remember when Jake came in and warned the entire forum as a whole in the rule thingie? *pokes the rules thread* check there.

It's never too bad to treat hobbies as job as long as you're viewing it in the right sense. It's a good practice on endurance in terms of "how to handle boring jobs in the future"

oh ok thansk fewwww i was worried lol

ad thanks can i have a few more suggestions i was tihnking maby julie or clair with a squirtle maby

So... I should stop concritting badfic because of the chance that I'll get backlash? Um, no thanks. It does tend to get aggrivating when you try to help people improve and they tell you to go jump off a cliff. I go into this assuming everyone is an honest writer who wants to improve; exucse my outlook, I s'pose. I happen to think that getting hatemail for criticizin grammar is a tad annoying o.o;;

That said, I am fully aware of the fact that I ask for it. ::shrug:: I find pokemon interesting. It's my fandom. I take writing seriously. That's about what it boils down to as far as I'm concerned.

I don't know what to say about the Pokemon, but the girl was definitely a Julie. Maybe give her a treeko?

@ Whirl Island Adventure, IceKing

-sorry it took so long... I underestimated summer school and how time consuming it is... it was so relaxing when I took French last year >>; I read the green forum version as you requested.

-title again, isn't the most unique and direct... I'm pretty positive how I've seen something like "<league name> Adventure." Not bad for the chapter titles in terms of the "anime tone" besides ch.8 is a bit cliche... it doesn't sound the same in tone compare to all of the other titles.

The boy named Brian?s heart
You actually sound like "Brian's heart" being the name of the boy. Reverse this sentence to the passive voice should fix this problem.

-before "something caught this eyes" you may want to consider starting a new paragraph. This sentence doesn't contain the same tone or content compare to the rest of the paragraph.

-i'll rather take out the "reader" reference in the joke. The fact that Mom said "nevermind" to the reader comment is like as if the reader can't block his own attack (unlike "chapter" where Mom saved it pretty well with "chapter of your life.")

2 human best friends
"human" is assumed by default. Even if it's not assumed by default, the sentence sounds weird in terms of syntax...

and Red and Ash
Avoid using the same word in the same sentence. Try to rewrite the sentence so you don't have 2 "and"s so close to one another like this.

-the entire incident with Team Rocket doesn't seem to be treated with a sense of seriousness that it needs... it sounds like a major change and a catastrophe for the Pokemon World, yet the tone and syntax don't not seem to imply the same sense of seriousness...

Just like in a normal league
A bit wordy here... you can use "Similiar to" to replace "just like in" to reduce the amount of words. Also, it'll flow a bit better this way.

-watch for connotation of words... the usage of "erect" for example isn't correct in terms of the connotation. Erect deals with being alert, or stimulated by feeling. This particular sentence is rather monotous, so "erect" isn't the most suitable word to use here.

-"something" is again repeated twice in the same sentence

Greg, Julie?s elder brother by ten minutes, yelled.
awkward syntax... consider rephrasing it.

But Andrew Thomas and his Heracross usually brought home the bread by going around Johto to give lessons in pokemon schools about fighting pokemon.
"But" is used as a conjunction to join a sentence clause with another. In here, there is nothing but one single complete sentence...

<unfinished, to be continued>

Oh, and by the way, in regards to the "crapauthors think they're immaculate" comment, I'd like for you to read this.
Haha, I just realized that someone plagerized my fic there too. Not the somewhat decent ff.net version that I fixed up a bit, but the crappy, unrevised version (not that's it's still not uncrappified or anything.) Don't go to the green forum if you want to copy HLBMA there. oo;

I'm feeling the name Julie with a Squirtle for a reason JE. Maybe Casey with a Charmander if anything.

As for the entire "debate" going on...

Eh, you can't control how someone wants to review nor can you really control how the author of a harsh review will react. You can be mature with it and swallow your pride if you got a review that didn't please you or perhaps you can lighten up just a tad and realize making them feel bad isn't always effective. Man is meant to ***** back.

How seriously should one take Pok?mon fanfiction anyways? (Iveechan asked that at the green forum (prolly countless others as well), but all the answers seemed redundant. 'Course, I haven't checked that thread in days)

::shrug:: I've been in a mood, so I've been more snippy than usual. Sorry to anyone offended.

Regardless, I take all of my writing seriously. It's a neverending comdemnation to be so enthralled with a fandom that is.... pokemon.

Tone of the story by default (in terms of theory) will show how serious the fanfic is meant to be.

However, it's the hypocritical fact how people complain about a bad review when they're "just having fun and not writing seriously" that causes problems. If it really isn't written in a serious way, why are these people treating the reviews in such a serious manner... that's my question

(Shrugs) Human nature is complex... The problem is though many "do things for fun" they can't help but feel that swelling feeling of pride (for what they were able to complete) and overwhelming positive expectations that follows it.

Even though they did it for fun and say: they had fun doing it and are sharing it with everyone its expected that if that's their motive then they actually want something back. (Good news/pat on the back/a warm embrace by many etc.)

When they don't get that desire fulfilled problems arise.

Humanity is overbearing and vain by default. Pride and ego are the leading problems... Well, at least from my time in fanfic writing (esp. in Pokemon) is concerned.

::shrug:: For some reason if you post on a writer's web site it'd seem to me that you're actually trying to write.

And you always have to remeber: For every 15 badficcers that yell at you, there will be one or two that honestly want to improve.

::shrug:: I'd say I'm a combination of both serious and just-for-fun writer. I'm willing to improve in areas like grammar, spelling, word choice, character/plot feasability, but then there are some things that I will not do. Like, I'm not really a Pokemon show fan, and I haven't played the games in while. I will not research any characters from the anime to include them in my plot. I just go off of what I remember from the episodes I watched in 99. Surprisingly, I didn't have too many OOC moments in my favorite fic Worlds Away. I think there were only like two or something. But that's 'cause the main characters were my original ones; Jack, R.A.A., Sarah.

EDIT: It looked like the cool thing to do! "::shrug::"

I really don't like fics centered around show characters. They annoy me. OCs are definitely the best way to go in our fandom... particularly if you want to avoid, "ONGGG DIS BETTA B AAMML!!!!!!!!11one :D:D:D:D:::D" XD

You should always write for fun, I think. Don't do something if you don't enjoy it. i jus find ritin lyk dis in a fic anoyin

Yeah, I agree. The difference is "just for fun" and "for fun". I'm of the "for fun"s which everyone should be. I use this as a tool to help me keep up with my grammar and spelling and stuff as well as to provide a vent for my imagination (this is like my only creative outlet).

Anime characters...eh. I don't like to make them the central characters EVER (just because I'm so Pokeshow illiterate), but sometimes fics with them as the main characters are really good.
