Red, the all-time classic choice. Also props to the fact that I had been mistaking him for Satoshi for a while. He's also the only Hero that has a Mario backsprite, seriously amazing.

And Lucas, I always thought he was fugly.
 
I guess I'll be one of the few to say Gold. I dunno if it was because G/S were my favorite games (and thus most played) or what. I do remember thinking something along the lines of "look at that backwards cap, he's so edgy." XD Plus, I never had Crystal, so I was always forced to play as Gold and had spent so much time as him.

I dunno. I do like the look of Emerald Brendan as well, though.
 
Red. Definitely. He had awesome Pokes, and destroyed TeamRocket, also re-appearing into HG/SS, which was awesome with all the old 'mons, giving off an aura of nostalgia. <3
 
Ethan/Gold has always been my favorite, maybe because Johto is my favorite region.

Close in second would be Red though, he's just epic.
 
I do like Touya but he stole Lucas' trousers and Lucas Pt has a scarf so I voted for him. But Touya is wearing a hoodie, awesome!

Definitely Red. He was the first and pretty much master of pokémon and since I'm always so nostalgic for the old Kanto days when it comes to Pokémon I had to choose Red. Though, I also liked Gold too. :)
 
Red or Brendan

I voted for red, since i love the original games, but brendan was cool too.
 
My favorite is Gold (not hard to tell). I can't explain why either. I think I just like the Johto region and the Gold character completes it.
 
Brendan. His white hair was cool. Until I found out it was just a hat.

Besides, he's the first hero I've ever played and it brings back memories~
 
Wes by far. He blows stuff up, he steals other peoples pokemon and saves the world. So Wes > Everyone else. Also he doesn't wear a hat, he has metal glasses, that seem impossible to see through, a cool coat, a super special awesome bike and a girlfriend. Whereas everyone else is a lame 10 year old, with a hat.
I don't much like hats. However Red comes second as he was the first to have a hat. The rest copied his bad fashion sense.

HOW DARE YOU! Red is a million times more awesome than Ash could ever dream of being. You should be ashamed of yourself :P

Simply put - Red is awesome. There is no game where he is not just plain awesome. There's a very good reason why he's the only hero character to ever turn up as an NPC. He's simply too epic to lose. Red gets my vote and should get yours too. The Mudkip has spoken!

I suppose in second place I would go for Gold (or Ethan or whatever his name is now), but only because he got to fight Red. And Red is light years ahead of him and anyone else.
