My favorite Japanese song is probably an older one from the 70s by a group called Kaientai. Not quite sure if they're still even performing together or not, but the song is pretty awesome, it's been covered a few times, but my favorite is the original since it has a rather nice folksy feel to it and the singer emotes wonderfully. The song itself is called Okuru Kotoba, which roughly translates to "Sending You Parting Words" if you keep the intent.
Oh man this is tough. I listen to a lot of vocaloid for some reason. miku hatsune and gumi megpoid are my faves. A lot of anime soundtracks too. Inuyasha (hate anime, like music and sheet music too), toradora, durarara, and much much more.~
I do not know any of their names, to be honest, but I enjoyed a lot of anime openings and endings. Durarara!!'s opening is probably the best Japanese soundtrack I've heard for an anime.
I love any version of Hatsune Miku's Last Night, Good Night or Love Is War, especially some of the covers by the NicoNico folk such as Choucho and Usa.
I'm also exceedingly fond of K-ON! music such as No, Thank You! and Don't Say 'Lazy'.
My favourite, though, is Lia's My Soul, Your Beats! from Angel Beats!. Epic song. Actually, most of the music in AB! is epic, especially Karuta's version of Ichiban no Takaramono.
here are my favorite japanese songs that i play on the guitar, but i only know 3 vocaloid songs (I'm starting to learn and practice playing by ear)...~:
*Nameless Song -Kagamine Len
*Love is War - Hatsune Miku (acoustic ver)
*Double Lariat- Megurine Luka (acoustic ver)
I don't know many japanese songs
I know a few japanese bands and japanese/american bands (such as Shonen Knife)
But one of my favorites is the opening to Chobits - "Let Me Be With You"
