    What's your favorite pokemon movie?

There is an entire forum dedicated to the Pokémon Anime and Movies, please make sure to place forums in the right place.

No, the first one was not such a 5 starer, to be exact.

I can't determine a permanent favorite really. The movies get better and better with every passing release. Except for the Miramax Movies. Disney really knows how to Smack up an external movie.

I'm going to say The Power of One. Whilst the story was a tad rudimentary, it was best application of the music (in both the dub and Japanese version), it called to a very epic nature, and it wasn't as forced as the first movie was to me (which could have benefited largely from the Mewtwo short that was cut, and forced the crux down the audience's throat too much for me, rather than down the character's). And, for that matter, I liked The Return of Mewtwo better than the first movie, which merited a place amongst the films to me. But everything felt right In Movie 2 IMO (save for a few exceptions) - the animation, the music (with the emotions being the style, vastness, colors, and music, struggles, and characters), the battles, the story. It was just more tightly woven and for that matter I felt it was better than all the Orange Island Arc episodes collaborated. Oh, and if I'm not mistaken it's the one film where there are no Brock "woman hitting" moments because... quite frankly, he doesn't partake the main cast. I thought that was a refreshening breath of air myself given how excessive and vexing that becomes (at least, for me). It was a tad cliched as a movie, but then again those "cliches" are used so often that I'd say they're just... devices above all else.

The first movie wasn't inherently bad, I just felt it could been more, especially given that the Mewtwo short was cut (which gives the character much more breathing space; yes, character - Mewtwo is less a Pokémon and more a character IMO). To reiterate, I feel the "Return of Mewtwo" special was better than the first movie, but that's for another matter of discussion if I'm not mistaken. The third movie isn't one I favor that much either... none of the subsequent movies are detestable in my opinion (I liked Heroes and Destiny Deoxys a lot myself since Heroes was a very poignant film to me and Destiny Deoxys has this notion of ever present danger that I feel the other films lack, and the Lucario and Darkrai movies [save for the voice acting of the latter] are rather good as well). But I just see the second as the best.

The 10th Pokemon movie has to be the best so far, they just continue to get better, the 3rd, 1st, and 5th were probably my least favorite.

I could've sworn there was a thread like this not too long ago.

But my favorite is the Darkrai movie. The animation in it was stunning, it had great battle sequences, and Ash wasn't the only hero at the end. Of course, the ending was not that good... but the battles were very intense. They had scenes like the Alberto turning into his Lickylicky, the fully evolved starters were in it. I just like watching it a lot. Especially compared to movie 4- movie 9.

Yeah, I loved how all 3 of the fully evolved 4th gen starters were in the movie and also got good screen time. Tangrowth, Honchkrow, and Gallade were also cool appearances.

My favorite was Pokemon Heroes due to the inclusion of my two favorite Pokemon, but it's probably not the best out of them quality-wise.

You have to admit Latios and Latias being able to change into the looks of any human is quite bizarre and hard to digest.

Uh.. Jirachi Wish Maker was pretty good, IMO.

But my favorite is Mewtwo Strikes Back.

I liked Mewtwo Strikes Back (First Movie)

It had emotion, and Ash died :P

But another one of my favorites is Wrath of Darkrai

The 3D parts were epic, and every other part was AWESOME!

Giratina and shaymin. Just true to what can happen to the envoirment.

so far Pokemon Heroes, Celebi- A timeless Encounter, The Rise of Darkrai have been my favorites
I think when the new movie comes out its going to be my favorite tho because its not even out and I watch the trailer like a bzillion times a day XD

The first two are definitely my favourite.

The first one was excellent. It had some great moments. You managed to see all of his pokemon plus a lot of other really powerful ones fight against their clones which I thought was really cool. The bit where Ash dies and all the Pokemon, including Pikachu, start weeping was epic and the song "Brother my Brother" starts playing was epic. It was the first movie as well so Ash was at his naiviest as well so the chemistry between Brock and Misty was the best here.

The second one was great as well. I loved the whole concept of the three islands with each legendary bird on them maintaining a balance and equilibrium. It was good to see Team Rocket being good for a change, though I suppose they had no choice. Also this movie made me finally realise the strong feelings that Misty had for Ash. Before that it was just specualtion based on a few things that happened on the show but that movie was practically an admission.

I don't think any after that were as good. The fifth one, Heroes, had some good moments and Lucario was excellent in Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, but apart from that none of them really compare apart from the tenth movie. If you'd got over the Voice Acting change by then and analyse the movie without considering that, you'll find it was oddly really good. As someone mentioned it was good to see all three evolved starters. The concept was really good and the battle between Palkia and Dialga was quality.

I liked Lucario and the Mystery of Mew and Pokemon Ranger.
Iono why...I hate that "why" stuffz I just likes it :).
I like all the movies, but I don't watch them looking for quality, I watch them for an easy to watch, fun, little cartoon...and that's exactly what they give me :D I so lucky :)
